@bobsal u1553115,
Congress can impeach Comey; what are they waiting for? His attempt to influence this election is not legal.

@Blickers,

It might be simpler than that. Comey's report said that they had gone through every single Email. Now a possible source of new Emails has emerged, so Comey has to make official note of it.

There's no legal obligation for him to "note" it in a public manner and certainly none to note it at this point in time. Of course, there would be an obligation to

investigate and see if anything new (and criminal) might appear.
Could be simple on the Election Side too. The more public attention is devoted to Emails, the better off it is for Trump and the Republicans.

I presume you are suggesting here that Comey is operating purposefully in the interests of the GOP. I'm not at all sure that's true though it is possible. But his behavior is certainly odd.

Impeachment would be an act of Congress and this Congress isn't going to go there for this, obviously.

But he could be removed by the President for cause. More likely, I suspect, would be a request for resignation.

But at this point, we can't credibly make the charge that his motive was to influence the election in favor of Trump. We don't know that.

@blatham,
I think impressions and results count. But, I'm not sure there is a way to measure that.

@cicerone imposter,
I get you. And I certainly can't make the opposite claim - that he is without any motivation to help Republicans. We'll just have to wait and see if any such credible information on this gets revealed. That's probably unlikely but then again we did find out about Bush's Justice Department which was engaged in covert operations to plant "loyal Bushies" wherever they could so as to influence what the JD investigated or didn't investigate.

No, I don't know that Comey is working against Hillary or not. I do think that he felt he had to explain the investigation of the Emails, and the Republicans are jumping on it as a chance to direct public attention to the Emails and away from Trump's disqualifications to become president, one of which is that he is the Manchurian candidate who will install Putin's foreign policy if elected.

@Blickers,
Sounds reasonable to me! It's difficult to draw conclusions, because Comey has such a good reputation.

Let us just stop for a brief moment to acknowledge that a whole bunch of Christian Right leaders in America are blessing the candidacy of a character who, if he became leader of the world's greatest empire, then you really wouldn't have a precedent back through time until you got to Caligula.

And he's their guy.

@blatham,
Caligula? Maybe a watered down version. Caligula did things like demand to have sex with a friend's wife and then afterwards, when all their friends are around, give the details of the experience.

Trump just throws teenage beauty pageants and then demands, as owner, to go into the dressing rooms and inspect the girls naked or half naked. Not quite Caligula class.

Of course, there's always Trump's rape of the 13 year old girl who was brought to a chi-chi New York party during the '80s. That's getting closer to Caligula's class.

@blatham,
I have always hated the FBI. It poses as a fact gathering investigative organization but ever since Herbert Hoover ran it it has been a far right ultra conservative organization who rather than try to stop the drug traffic has investigated people like Rev. King and any other liberal organization who they think might imperial the far right. The sob's even investigated John Kennedy and his brother Robert. I wouldent believe any FBI agent if he swore on a stack of bibles that he was telling the truth.

Dont hold your breath until a republican congress impeaches a republican FBI agent who just handed them the presidential and congressional election.

Humans are pretty screwed up, you have to admit. Let me provide an illustration as if that was even necessary.

I can go to the pool or to the beach wearing no shirt. Just completely bare chested. That's not a problem. It's accepted.

But if I wear a T-shirt of any color whatsoever but with two holes cut out that reveal my nipples. that's a problem.

And this isn't just a sociological observation, it's a complaint. Because I love the feeling of a soft breeze brushing tantalizingly across my nipples.

I wouldent believe them if they swore on a stack of copies of the constitution, about which they know nothing.
