My parents are diligent practitioners of this religion, and it is due to their consistent practice, their accumulated good fortune, as well as the Gohonzon’s great compassion, that I was delivered into this world safely.

Is the comma after compassion optional?

I think so. I think it depends on whether you want a pause there. You have ended the list. The comma before the and is incorrect though.

The comma after "compassion" shouldn't be there. It's not optional.
