pistoff neglected to credit his source for the Scherer screed: The Muslim American Society of America, a fairly moderate Islamist organ, as such organs go. Their stance is uniformly critical of US foreign policy, and they have been prominent in the Anti]War movement.

Just to give credit where its due.

I think you'd be pressed to argue that my reading is narrowly directed. I have, for example, read a lot of you.

I think it unnescessary to point out there are conservatives on A2K who frequently piss the hell out of me ... and most frequently by their rhetoric, or what they think passes for rhetoric.

Moderately good. A bit snitty, but quick and to the point. Not quite the usual standard.

It does bring to mind an epigram of a favorite Roman, Martial

You ask what I grow on my Sabine estate
a reliable answer is due

What I grow on that soil, far from urban turmoil
I grow very happy at not seeing you.

Yes, I know that. And the converse is true for me.

george

Agreed. Low quality. The snit aspect was unintended, but that speaks to the quality issue.

Good quote from Martial. There's a Roman gravestone which sits right up there with my favored last sentiments...

"I was
I am not
I don't care"

Scrat says that the question will be solved when the Demos don't have as many votes in the Senate.

Now, I read a lot of nonsense on these posts but noone seems to want to engage in dialogue that is not only meaningful but realistic.

Is there anyone who wants to state that Edwards' seat will be won by a Democrat in 2004? Remember, that's North Carolina.

Is there anyone who wants to state that Hollings' seat will be won by a Democrat in 2004?
Remember- that's South Carolina.

Is there anyone who thinks that Graham's replacement in Florida will be a shoo-in?
Remember, that's Florida.

Is there anyone who thinks that Zell Miller, the retiring Democrat from Georgia will not be replaced by a Republican?

Let's focus on reality. Not meaningless abstractions.

What do the people who really know about Politics say?

I mean the people who write in Roll Call and the professional pundits- not the idiots who write in the Nation Magazine.

Blatham,
I said moderately good, not low quality. I know snitty when I see it goddammit. Of course it was intended - a key part of the thrust. Too late to offend me now old friend.

If one is a combination, might one become "snoppy" by accident? Very Happy

Ordinarily not much hobit. Blatham, however is a connoisseur of these things and can supply nuance on demand.

A swing to the Repubs?
I feel that it is so.

Any counters to the GW Bush scenerio?

I feel that the Conservatives will win the Natl. Election. It will be the most interesting four years in America's history since Vietnam and Watergate. I also feel that my family and I will move out of this country because it would be much to depressing to stay and witness America go to a 3rd World Police State.

SNOTTY...think of a powdered wigged, nose dabbing elitist Republican, forcefully repressing physical attraction to someone in a lower social station, but of the same gender

SNITTY...as above, but unrepressed

SNIPPY...again, referring to the same creature, but in this variant, as castrato

I note that Mr. Pistoff thinks that the Conservatives will win the election in 2004. Mr. Pistoff says he will be leaving the country.

I will not. If I did, I would meet types like Blatham who think they know more than anyone else.
Blatham is the type of instructor that I found abhorrent in College. A mile wide and two inches deep.

He obviously doesn't know that powdered wigs are out of style.

He really doesn't know what elitists are-He obviously is unacquainted with the real monied elitists in the USA-

Ted( Scumbag) Kennedy

John D.(Grandson of the exploiter) Rockefeller

and

John( soupcan) Kerry.

There is where the real wealth is.

Apparently, Blatham doesn't know that.
