We're waaaay, off topic, but I'll add my 2 cents about Harvard. I live here, just off the main Harvard campus. Cantabridgians (oy) are a generally reserved lot and sometimes that passes as snobbish. And next time someone tells you Bostonians are bad drivers, you can tell them it's not us full-time residents, but the massive student population that accounts for that.
cjh, Actually, after your workout moving them huge furniture, it was your b.o. that they reacted to.
Here on the west coast of Canada, lumberjacks patrol the university hallways and faculty lounges, ripping leather elbow patches from tweed jackets and dissing Socrates.
Isn't there anyone out there who would like to debate Bubya's SAT scores on a third thread?
I do wish Mr. Blatham would help me to find the truth. My best friend who lives in Windsor tells me that the Canadian medical system is execrable.
Of course, that's in the nature of anecdotal evidence, so it can't go very far, can it?
Mr. Blatham claims that there are tons of evidence that show the clear advantage held by the Canadian medical system over the system in the USA. Since my uncle, who is quite ill, is really considering a move, if it will only lead him to better medical treatment, would it be too much for Mr. Blatham to GIVE A LINK.
Again, I can only give anecdotal evidence. When my uncle was at Mayo Clinic, we stayed there for a week.
There were quite a few persons there from Canada who said that they could not abide the long waiting lists for elective surgery in Canada.
Perhaps Mr. Blatham can disabuse me of my errors by giving SOME LINKS?
Harvard- yes, Harvard-
Anecdote-
When Solzhenitsyn finally consented( after he had been asked by numerous Universities to speak and had turned them all down) to speak at Harvard, they asked him why he had chosen that time and that place to speak.
Solzhenitsyn said:
Because Harvard is Harvard.
I am sure that Professor Hobibit, with his knowledge of University programs and Education, has some cogent insights on "best programs" and where to find them.
Alas, I must confess to being so far gone that I almost reflexively take Professor Henry Rosovsky's list ( in his book-"The University") as gospel.
Professor Rosovsky is, of course, the former dean of the Faculty of Arts and Sciences, so some might say he has a bias. However, he is also a distinguished scholar who could not bear the opprobrium of his peers for distorting of the truth.
Rosovsky writes:
A recent exercise by Asian Scholars published in the Asian Wall Street Journal produced the following rankings:
l. Harvard 2. Cambridge, Oxford 3. Stanford 4. University of California( Berkeley 5. MIT 6. Yale 7. Tokyo 8 Paris-Sorbonne 9. Cornell 10. Michican and Princeton."
Rosovsky continues:
I attach no real imporatance to rank order-though it naturally pleases me to find Harvard in first place."

Mr. Blatham tells us:
"They have no more use than I for uninvestigated ideas"
Then why does Mr. Blatham insist on giving us opinion after opinion without any documentation or evidence?
I call that "univestigated ideas"
Some people develop credibility here in A2K. One has respect for their sources and opinions. You're going to have to work on that, Ital, on coming up with a range of good, credible documentation. Blatham has already achieved top rating. And.... he has a sense of humor.
opinion....we are doomed.
Mr. Blatham, how dare you doom say! That is opinion. Naughty Mr. Blatham!
Since we're still off-topic....
Blatham, did you know I passed through your fine city in early July?
blatham secretly heads the largest private clandestine intelligence agency in North America, littlek. His highly trained operatives lurk everywhere, Don't tell anyone, though ... its a secret. In my opinion, he'd rather that not become generally known.
(whispering) Yes, don't tell
Falsehoods! Slanders! A perfect example of how lies slip through a republican's teeth like **** through a goose, of how democrats couldn't find the Truth if it sat on an easy boy rocker with it's legs spread and a three acre flag flying from it's weenie.
How the mighty are fallen.

--to which, Hell, I have to say-- you can't really blame them, since the truth is closely disguised as Clinton.
Clinton, I just love that man. I really do. If only we had another just like him. He'd beat Bush with no trouble at all.
Now, what's our plan? How are we going to get rid of this loser, GW next year? This is the topic, is it not? I am now reporting for duty.

It is truly impressive how Clinton so caprtured the hearts and mids of the Republicans, becasue he hasn't the same hold over the rest of us. Even the ones who have more than two functioning neurons to rub together (can conservatives rub neurons together wthout sin?) like Sofia and Timber are captivated by him. All sarcasm aside, this phenomenon is one I have never understood. I am really curious, guys...why is he so fascinating to you? I'm not playing "gotcha," I really, really wish to understand.
