How to stop an overly reactive skin

Reply Tue 26 Jul, 2016 03:55 am
I'm 32 and I have a thin, very reactive skin. Throughout the day, I will start feeling like a mosquito bit me on the face and or neck. It feels exactly like a mosquito bite, looks like a mosquito bite and is not a mosquito bite as it happens to me every day, throughout the year, for years now. I travel and live around the world and therefore have experienced living in 4 season countries and tropical countries. No difference what so ever. My skin still reacts that way at LEAST once a day but mostly after I apply moisturiser or my organic aloe vera for the night.I have used tons of different face moisturiser, oil, gel but my face seems to react ever time after I apply any of them. I have a combination skin and don't often wear make up. This is something really frustrating for me and I would like to know if anybody knows how to manage it.

@venusrafter16,
Sounds like you're allergic to something in all those products you're using. Why not get tested by a doctor?

@jespah,
What jespah said. You need to be tested for allergy. It could be as simple as dust. (My problem.)

@venusrafter16,
Some tips
1. Immediately stop using whatever was over-exfoliating your skin.
2. Don’t exfoliate at all until your irritated skin heals.
3. Be very gentle with your skincare routine.
4. Be careful putting any creams or liquid makeup on your over-exfoliated skin.
5. Beware of “hidden” exfoliation.
6. Put away all those masks for now.
7. Apply the most healing and nourishing oil you can find.
8. Take excess oil off if you’re worried about breakouts
9. Don’t wash your face thoroughly twice a day.
10. Invest in a shower filter if you don’t have one already.
11. Nourish your skin from the inside out.
12. Don’t be shy – nourish your skin throughout the day.
13. Use aloe vera to cool and soothe your skin.

@venusrafter16,
Go for products with sensitive label.Consult a doctor. Look for cleansers, toners, makeup, and moisturizers that are fragrance-free and hypoallergenic. Cleanse, tone and moisturize with gentle products everyday.

Consider a doctor prescribed steroid cream, it helps revive the skin's natural immunities and in many cases it works.
