@theprofessor,
African Man
*From an African man’s perspective*
[Intro]
(*African accent*)
Hello
I am a man from AFRICA
Home of the brave
And I am no more a slave
Anybody test the black man will get a lesson from ME
This one is for my people
[Verse 1]
Check it
Things just isn’t the same for Africans
Not since our fathers became slaves in Babylon
And now we have our own countries, we are THAT independent
Plus we have all the time had a black president
But the strangest things can happen in Africa
When a person can say things that can make people laugh at them
Trying to be superior
When we are just inferior to a nation of outsiders
Who don’t have the same skin as us
I see them come, as I come and go
Half of us is laid in the hospital
Some of us are ministers and doctors
And one of us is an archbishop, Desmond Tutu
I am proud to be an African, proud to be black
But it’s hard to be a poor man living on the sand
Whether I’m from Nigeria, Rwanda, Madagascar
Even my woman feels it too, just ask her
[Hook]
I’m an African man
And I’m proud to be black
If you dare misjudge me
Then I will misjudge you back
‘Cause I’m an African man
Coming straight from the sands
I’m just as human as you
So won’t you please hold my hand?
Ye-es
[Verse 2]
We’ve had visitors from all across the whole wide globe
Boys wearing trainers, girls wearing designer robes
It makes us have a range of mixed emotions
Then again, we Africans always had different notions
Some of us live in the jungle
Some of us walk in bundles
And some of us walk in big puddles
The environments are hot, but we have melatonin
How many of us survive the heat, there is no knowing
We are considered to be preachers who preach
The Good Word of the Bible to people on TV
We’ve rapidly increased over 40 years
Which is amazing for a people who wear strange things in their ears
Every time you hear a jazz record, you hear an African
Every time you hear hip-hop, you hear an African
Our culture is diverse as well
So many different species in Africa we practically beat everyone else
[Hook]
