STREET FIGHTER ORIGINS: RYU

[Verse]
Here is a story of a challenger called Ryu
who lives and was taught under a master of styles
A warrior who seeks for a battle like no other
Trains to be the best and a man who loves to wander
He was born an orphan with no knowledge of his parents
No memories, logic or clearance
His master, Gouken, embraced him and adopted him
And taught him the martial art of Ansatsuken
(暗殺拳, literally "assassination fist")
Ryu was Daniel and the master was Miyagi
'Til the bond transformed into a son and father thing
But Ryu wouldn't be alone without a partner, Ken
who he looked up to as a surrogate brother and friend
And that friendship would last for hundreds of tens
of years, until they grew old and no longer can
lift their hands up to throw a Hadouken ball into somebody's face
with enough power to knock them off the edge
He took part in a Street Fighter tournament
when he was 23, and defeated all comers
The final fight was against the host, Sagat
who was a Muay Thai champ in his prime
They fought with great strength, but Ryu was knocked
by Sagat's attack, fell off and went out of consciousness
Suddenly, an unknown power talked to him
and drove him to get up with eyes that were dark as sin
He got up and executed a Metsu Shoryuken
(滅・昇龍拳, literally, "Destroying Rising Dragon Fist")
and left a large scar on Sagat's chest
From that day, Sagat swore revenge
and vowed to make Ryu pay for what he did
They've been bitter enemies since then
The next time they fought, nobody would tell who would win
But Sagat was not the only opponent that Ryu faced
The other was an ex-dojo student who embraced
the dark side, which forced him to give up his humanity
and thus he became a monster of insanity
When Ryu returned home from the champions' league
He found his master Gouken dead at his hands and feet
He'd been defeated with the Shungokusatsu
(瞬獄殺, "Instant Hell Murder")
which is a deadly move
the type of move that can split a bitch's head in two and make a city destitute
He swore to avenge Goutetsu's demise
Travelled heaven and earth to find the man who ended his sensei's life
to make him pay the price
But the demon turned the tables on Ryu
and told him to fight again when he's embraced the dark side
Jumped out of the cave and left Ryu isolated
to contemplate just what he meant by that statement
So from there, Ryu seeks to best Akuma
wherever he meets him - day, moon, or semilunar
But he's never without his best friend Ken
to help him on the way along with some other friends
One day, Ken and Ryu had a match
but Ryu felt distracted by the battle that he had then
Until Ken gave his bandana to him
And told him to stay focused whenever stress tries to go through him
There's been surrogate brotherhood from that very day
They shared a friendship nobody can surpass
Ryu's still a great warrior today
with a style and skill that has never been outmatched
He's a Street Fighter
