publicity stunts and celebrities question?

this is about celebs. there is a singer of a girlband aged 19 who is always trying to link herself to a certain 23 year old very famous singer.
OK so inspite of meeting her many times, she did not have his twitter follow but in between nov-dec 2015, she followed him on instagram and 10 days later he followed her after 4 years of knowing her. This sent a wave among the fandom especially among their shippers.

Now ever since she got the follow, she's being doing everything possible to link herself to him via social media. His name starts with Z so she started using words like zelfie, ze, etc all publicly.
That guy likes pics of smoke and she started posting or liking pics which have smoke coming out too!
Later on she even took his old twitter header (Keaton music and art header) and posted that on her Instagram claiming how she loves art and music ( the guy loves music and art and had this header before).
She also goes around liking his Instagram pics occasionally.
And the most obvious thing she did was posting a fanart of herself wearing his merchandize which was drawn by their shippers!
All this causes a wave within the fandom and they think she's a fan when she does not seem like a fan and seems like she does this on purpose. There are loys of female celebs who admire him, his best friends or even girlfriends are there they dont do this then why is she?
Since she's not that famous, all of her activities remain among the fans and the media doesn't take any interest.

The singer has met her many times but neither of them showed any interest yet when it comes to social media and shippers, she seems to have no end to doing all this to link herself.
Why is she doing this? Does she do this intentionally? Isn't this a scream for attention or exploiting for self promotion than real admiration? I mean admiration does no
