A friend of mine ran up against the limit of name changes before you have to explain it to some kind of minor judge.
1. The name she grew up with, 2. the name she used after she got married, 3. then the name of the man she found out at 25+ was her real father. She then decided to use 4. her mother's maiden name as her family name. The judge just stamped it, and said o.k.
I've since heard that she went to court to attach her new husband's name to hers.
