For me, they are not. After what I personally have been through, what I have watched my friends/family go through, listening to people on the net, etc... At this stage I my life, I am going with "what's the point"?? Anyone else.... ?

@Medusax,
You will probably change your mind - several times.

I've built walls,
A fortress steep and mighty,
That none may penetrate.
I have no need of friendship; friendship causes pain.
It's laughter and it's loving I disdain.
I am a rock,
I am an island.

And a rock feels no pain;
And an island never cries.

@Medusax,
I get that. I'm basically a loner, but company of some sort is like a built in requirement. Figuring out the terms you want to have it on is the tricky bit.

If I was a younger person, I would probably agree.

@Medusax,
You will have to define what a relationship is then, there are all kinds of relationships.

Are you asking if sex is really worth it?

You have a very limited concept of company/companionship. If you don't think your romantic relationships include that, your problem is obvious.

@Medusax,
It's pretty simple. When looking for a lover, make sure they can be a friend first.

In my 60's and I had 3 serious relationships in my life including one marriage. They were all a bad deal for my partners.

I'm self absorbed and selfish with my time; not a bad thing in itself but not conducive to a relationship.
I have a ton of friends and enjoy my single status immensely.

Perhaps not everybody is cut out for relationships.

@panzade,
I was married to the best husband ever. He died suddenly. The ones BEFORE him, and the one AFTER him, quite frankly, were a waste of air.

Well, you asked, and your OP and other comments indicate you didn't know it.

@ehBeth,
Well, the last one I was friends with for a year beforehand. He turned out to be the worst of all of them as far as lying/cheating.
