I want to know how to distinguish some synonym.For me a Chinese student,I can't see any difference between‘peculiar’ ‘special’‘partitular’.So it's difficult for me to use them suitable.

@MinKid,
It would help if you showed a model sentence to figure out which one to use.

Depending on the sentence, the differences would be meaningful or subtle.

@MinKid,
Min, I wonder if you're allowed to use OneLook.com If not,

peculiar = strange
special = having desirable feature
particular = notable; fussy

peculiar = strange

It's my take that this kind of weird advice is peculiar to Dale.

I think I need to organize a special to outline how he is particular..

@dalehileman,
Geez, Dale!

How come you are so dense as to limit and restrain the range of possibilities, and that after a whole life dealing with words?

To reduce peculiar to meanings like strange or even distinctive is sabotaging the language..

@dalehileman,
You are communicating with another Esl, me.

That's why I think giving advice in such matters is beyond your capabilities.
