Let's see, Thunder....sin is anything that offends that god of yours, right?

And as I understand it, your god would not be offended if one man bought and traded another man as a slave...but would be offended if that same man loved another man and traded spit with him.

Why would you advocate intolerance to people who consider a god like that to be a piece of shyt...and unworthy of any consideration or respect?

God created us with something in mind and he set standards for the way we live, and he also gave us the gift of marraige and of sex, he set standards for these, and you obviously can't see that.

In a college class, World Religions, I took years ago the general consensus was that a thread of truth travels through all the great religions. I think, hope, we are all traveling in that direction - that is, religious tolerance through understanding, etc. Aren't we? Maybe we're on the first rung of the ladder?

No intolerance to anyone that is not a believer in your religion. Religion is the precursor to and the purveyor of hate.

Sin! We hate sin! What is so confusing about that? If we hate someone, then we are not following our religion closely. In which case, the religion is not to blame, but people that pervert it.

When people are given ample chance to know and learn about Jesus, and then not even try to understand, I believe the rejection is considered sin.

That is your guess.

My guess is that you are following standards set by a group of relatively unsophisticated, realitively unknowledgeable, superstitious ancient Hebrews.

They were the kind of people who would think it moral to have slaves...and worthy of death to be homosexual.

But if you want to think that there is a God...and that the god is the jealous, vengeful, revenge driven, quick to anger, slow to forgive, comically tyrannical, arbitrary, murderour, cruel, petty cartoon god described in the Bible...you are entitled to do so. And I will try to contain my laughter long enough to defend your rights in that regard.

Frank, the purpose of his standards is to improve the living conditions and lives of his creation. Just think for a moment, if we all followed the ten commandments...

Which Religion is the One True Religion? What do you think this is some form of knowledge exchange? As the Pope, there's a new one just now.

Yeah...well...

...this is the first commandment:

I am the Lord thy God, which have brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage. Thou shalt have no other gods before me. Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth; thou shalt not bow down theyself to them, nor serve them; for I the Lord the God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generations of them that hate me; and showing mercy unto thousands of them that love me and keep my commandments. (Jewish version)

I, the Lord, am your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, that place of slavery You shall not have other gods besides me. You shall not carve idols for yourselves in the shape of anything in the sky above or on the earth below or in the waters beneath the earth; you shall not bow down before them or worship them. For I, the Lord, your God, am a jealous God, inflicting punishment for their fathers' wickedness on the children of those who hate me, down to the third and fourth generation; but bestowing mercy down to the thousandth generation on the children of those who love me and keep my commandments. (King James version)

And you think that is good advise???

You think that sets a good example???

You think that kind of thinking will improve lives and living conditions???

Do you really do any thinking, Thunder...or do you just blindly spout this nonsense because you are terrified of this horrific, barbaric god that you seem to think exists?

He punishes those who impede on the quality of life for other creation. If we respected each other a little better, then no one would get punished.

I am really glad that your god doesn't exist.

I wish more Christians would come to realize that fact.
