I am done arguing the candidates. Most likely voters now know how they will vote. I have a new thread idea, in which, if Clinton is elected, we predict where she will do good, where she will fail us. I will not be able to make a total list at one time, so, I will be adding to or altering my list as time goes by. Deadline for predicting is election day. After that, no more guesses. I invite anybody interested to make a list of their own. In November participants should summarize their predictions, to make them easier to judge.
1. War war and more war. She is a neocon.
2. She will try to keep Obamacare as it is, but pressure will be strong to buck her money people and do something positive for it. Increments, maybe, maybe not.
3. TPP and such trade bills rammed through
4. She will be feeling the heat to stop incarcerating so many people in for profit prisons. Public pressure may force her to against her money people. How far she goes is a question mark.
5. Black lives matter. Not as much action there as progressives hope for. Foot dragging on reforming police who get away with murder.
6. Jobs bill. I doubt if she will try very hard on this one.
7. Gay rights stood up for.
8. Drug prices stay high.
9. Clings to fossil fuel economy.
10. Nominates Supreme Court justices similar to Sotomayor. Obama? Maybe.
@edgarblythe,
If I'd done this for President Obama eight years ago, I would have pretty much completely missed the boat. I would have guessed more on civil rights, less on LGBT rights, more on Gitmo, nothing on Iraq and Cuba. I would have never guessed about Arab Spring or the 2008 financial meltdown or the Republican refusal to work with the President on anything. I never thought Healthcare would get off the ground. I would have gotten the TPP right, ending the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq correct, but I think the situation a year from now will not look anything like it does today. For all we know, a solid Clinton win will move the Congress to the negotiating table - or make them more insane. Will Clinton be empowered by the President's use of executive authority? Hard to tell, but I'm sure something will come along to make 2017-2020 look really different than 2016.
@edgarblythe,
1) Indicted on conspiracy charge re: E-Mails - March 2017
2) Impeached April 2017
3) Her VP Al Gore finally gets his wish to be President
I left out the email scandal, because, I don't believe the government will let this hang over her head going into the presidency. For that reason, I think they will sweep it under the rug or take action on it real soon. The Republicans of course will never let it rest until she is out of public life.
I think she will be soft on Citizens United.
