Either that, or the first, second and third person singular, perhaps? - I go; you go; he goes... (only about one third of these end in 's')

It also ignores the second person singular--i go, thou goest, he goes. Of course, we no longer use the second person singular, but it is a valid objection to the seeming thesis of the thread.
