Edit [Moderator]: Moved from General to History.

I heard today that there was a god, or demon, or something(i dunno) that was pure beautiful, but pure evil. Was there a being like this? If so, what was his/her name? I'm tryin to think back to the old history classes! Hmmm......

You're not talking about Pandora are you? In Greek mythology she was supposedly created as beautiful as Aphrodite, but eventually unleashed pure evil on the world.

Lucifer was supposed to have been created to be the most beautiful of the angels. This caused him to experience the sin of pride to such an extent that he came to believe that he should be the one in charge of heaven, not God. Rebellion quashed, he left heaven (along with his supporters), went to hell, reportedly saying that it is better to serve in hell than be a servant in heaven.

I believe that Lucifer was the most beautiful because he was the angel most loved by God.

I could be wrong. My source is hazy memories of Milton and Paradise Lost.

You be welcome, Noddy. I was with you on Milton, so I thought I'd do a quick search and came up with that tidbit.

Has anyone heard of "asiren" or "siren"? I don't know the spelling, but it's something like that.
