Which of the following sentences is correct?

Cheques number 1234 and 1235 are missing.
Cheque numbers 1234 and 1235 are missing.
Cheques numbers 1334 and 1235 are missing.

I would use the second sentence, although i would write check rather than cheque.

Same answer, though Ms Tan seems to favor the British - which I keep forgetting.

I think either of the first two would work. The third is clearly wrong since check 1334 is not missing.

I cannot agree that the first example is acceptable. Referring to a typo in the third sentence seems a silly quibble to me, not germane to the question of usage.
