Context:
More than 200 astronomy researchers at Berkeley and other institutions signed onto a letter Tuesday calling for Berkeley's administration to reevaluate its response to Marcy's case.
Berkeley decided to institute a zero-tolerance
policy for Marcy
going forward after the investigation concluded, but that wasn't a sufficient enough punishment for many people at the school and in the astronomy and physics community.
......
The scientific community reacted quickly when news of Marcy's resignation broke:
It's finally over. Too many people and too many years b/c institutions don't protect students. So proud of Astro community response #astroSH

"Happy now?" No. I feel GM's resigning is appropriate, but nothing about #astroSH
convo makes me 'happy.' Hopeful for change, justice? Yes.

@niais I have very mixed feelings too. He can't harm more students, but @UCBerkeley hasn't demonstrated they'd do anything differently.
