You go to hear Linda. (not that I would unless she performed her jazz collection). You're really going to see and be seen, have some drinks, and get down to whatever music turns you on. Then, without a clue, it becomes a musical political rally. Frankly, I would be alarmed

OK, but look it - no offence - but what are we talking about here? Aren't we losing a certain sense of perspective?

From what I understood from the article, she told the audience that Moore is a "great American patriot" and "someone who is spreading the truth" and that everyone should see his "documentary about President Bush". And then continued into her next song, I suppose.

Thats it. Its not like she launched into a 10-minute speech or proceeded to unfold a banner or God knows what ... she simply made a political remark - and continued into her next song. Isnt the talk of suddenly ending up at a "political rally" kind of ... overreaching a tad?

I dunno. I would treat it like I would treat a song I didnt like. Oh damn, I dont like this part - hope the next song's better. There's always a next song.

The man taking over the club in Veagas has said that once he gains control Linda will be welcome to come back.

Ronstadt May Return To Vegas Stage

Thanks to negotiations today (July 21) between the Recording Artists Coalition (RAC) and the prospective new owners of Las Vegas's Alladin Theater, expect to see RAC member Linda Ronstadt back at the venue this fall -- with filmmaker Michael Moore on backup vocals.

The singer was the recipient of heavy-handed treatment Saturday (July 17) when she dedicated the Eagles' "Desperado" (co-written by RAC co-founder Don Henley) to Moore, the director of the anti-President Bush documentary, "Fahrenheit 9/11."

News reports said some in the audience booed, stormed out of the theater and tore down posters. Reports also said Ronstadt was escorted off the premises without being allowed to return to her dressing room, which she has subsequently denied.

After a day of negotiations, the prospective new owner of the venue, Robert Earl, Chairman and CEO of Planet Hollywood International, Inc., issued the following statement:

"We hope to be approved by the Nevada Gaming Commission to become the new owners of the Aladdin Resort in Las Vegas as early as September 1, 2004. Upon the assumption of ownership, and with a new management team in place, we would like to offer the use of the Theatre of Performing Arts to Linda Ronstadt for a second concert and further to take Michael Moore up on his offer to join her on stage to introduce her and sing a song."

"We respect artists' creativity and support their rights to express themselves," said Earl. "We were very sorry to hear about the unfortunate circumstances of this past Saturday night and want to make it clear that Planet Hollywood has never, in our 13 year history, restricted any artists' right to free speech and we will continue with that policy once we take ownership."

Please, I hate those performers. It isn't their place. Perform, and don't advocate your politics in public. Most of them are working waaaay too hard to make an amazing speech on why such-and-such a candidate is best. Please, do your job, and politicians will do theirs. Thank you, Team America, World Police for having the same feelings I do (Film Actors Guild... F.A.G... brilliance.)

Edgar: Touché. I can only assume that was a refute to my post. Now, I'm not saying they shouldn't think. They are perfectly entitled to their own opinions, whether conservative, liberal, or whatnot. I'm just saying that it seems that they're a little too outspoken for many peoples' tastes. Attend a political raly, fine. But express your political views completely out in the open (on a talk show or whatever), and it seems whether or not your opinion is thouroughly researched? Case in point: I can't remember who it was, but she said on a talk show when the '04 election was in full swing: "I think women should get out and vote... unless they want rape to be legal... like, they have a right to their bodies..." Come on. Little overconfident about their beliefs. And their relevance. I'm just saying that sometimes it's best to keep one's thoughts to oneself. Of course, many actors and actresses tend to think of themselves as superior to the rest of us...

If John Ashcroft can get on Letterman singing his song about turkeys soaring or Chicken Little or whatever I think the world can stand to hear a little lecture from Linda.

The only tthing I find offensive is that someone with a moderate intelligence and a ttalent is afforded an opportunity to spout in one area while performing in the other.
I really dont care which side, they aint pundits, so Im there to hear the music so "SHUT THE **** UP AND SING"

Dennis Miller, on the other hand is typicaal neocon who is in the process of making his side look like complete tools, so Id say, leave him be cause hes the best advertisment for Checks and balances.
