trying to remember a word which means to release from bondage

Hi there

There is a word that means to "release from bondage" or "to free a slave". I think that it begins with m, but can't for the life of me remember what the word is.

Can anyone help with this?!

Emancipate and/or liberate are the ones that immediately come to mind.
