Gymnastic officials find judging error but Hamm's win stands
Another example of a judging error that unfairly punishes an athlete. I think Korea's Yang Tae Young should also get a gold medal; he earned it.

Olympics: Gymnastic officials find judging error but Hamm's win stands

ATHENS : The International Gymnastics Federation (FIG) confirmed that a judging error went against South Korea's Yang Tae Young in the men's all-around final but also ruled that American Paul Hamm's victory will stand.

FIG officials have suspended the technicial officials involved until an inquiry into the matter is completed.

"The judges' error is confirmed," an FIG news release said. "The FIG executive committee has decided to suspend the technical officials concerned pending inquiry."

While supporting the Koreans' case, the FIG did not alter the final judging marks, leaving world champion Hamm as the first American to ever claim a men's Olympic all-around gold. Yang took bronze behind compatriot Kim Dae Eun.

"The FIG rules do not allow for a protest against judges' marks," FIG said. "The judges' marks have to be accepted as a final decision and cannot be changed."

South Korean officials protested to the FIG that Yang's final horizontal bar routine should have received a start value of 10, the maximum possible, instead of the 9.9 the Korean was given in Wednesday's last rotation.

Yang received a 9.475 score that dropped him from from first place. Hamm followed with a stunning 9.837 to move past Yang and Kim despite a bad fall in an earlier vault landing that dropped him from first to 12th overall

The one consolation for the Koreans is that the officials responsible face reprimand and punishment.

Anyway, my eyes hurt because of staring in TV last 10 days Very Happy Best Olympics so far for Croatia, but, as always, a lot of great time while supporting small countries, especially those that never won olympic medal.
Two nights ago, when guy from Erithrea won bronze in 10,000 meter race I was happy almost as I would be if Croat took that medal Smile

And, I really wonder if, at this moment, my feelings are stronger for Croatian handball team, or for Iraqi soccer team. GO IRAQ!!!!!!

how much are you watching per day? (to all)

well, all day Smile I am watching it bit less in the morning (croatian time: +6 to +8 hours in relation to USA), mostly just switching channels to see if there's anything interesting, and then watching bits of qualifications and stuff...
In the afternoon and evening - all time Smile I watched all swimming, now all track & field, lots of team handball and basketball, and of other sports - what pops up Smile Yesterday I caught extra time of USA-Germany women soccer, and also gymnastics just in time to see how Alexei Nemov was robbed.

So far I have watched... let's see (rough figures):

Swimming: 8 hours
Football: 7 hours
Gymnastics: 6+ hours
Diving: 3 1/2 hours
Athletics: 6 hours
Basketball: 3 hours
Volleyball: 3 hours
Cycling: 2 1/2 hours
Tennis: 2 hours
Beach volley: 2 hours
Archery: 1 hour
Rowing: 20 minutes
Boxing: 20 minutes
Weightlifting: 15 minutes
Judo: 5 minutes
Wrestling: 5 minutes

That makes 45+ hours of live watching. An average of 4.5 a day. Plus the nightly analysis-reruns-comedy programs, an average a little below 2 hours a day.

Sports that have not been transmitted by Mexican TV (the two main networks have them live, plus there's USA's Univision on cable):

baseball
softball
handball
hockey
fencing
shooting
badminton
table tennis
waterpolo
sailing

(plus I guess i've seen almost all the judo and wrestling transmitted)

John-Bush, if he is still in school then yes. Not actually full three months, week or two less - school ends middle of June and starts mostly first Monday of September.

Ask him what is name of his sister, so I'll tell you if he is telling you truth Wink

And, I know that croatian football team has a lot of supporters in Asia after WC98 in France, but unfortunately I think they will be more and more dissapointed with us in years to come Sad

well, you should've seen one of last goals on today's quarter final game against Greece (Croatia-Greece 33:27), it's the coolest handball goal I ever saw - and believe me, I watch enormous amounts of handball Smile

Day of penalty shoot-outs for German teams today Wink

and another controversy after 100m hurdles race, after Canadian sprinter accidently fall and tackled another girl (Russian? Ukrainian?). According to Croatian TV, in case of appeal, race will almost certainly be repeated.
