Dream team lost again. Looks like they've lost that aura of invincibility. Psychologically, the other teams don't seem scared of them anymore.

Unfortunately, can't say the same thing about the US softball team. To get into the semi finals they've scored 41 runs and have yet to concede even one. Right at this moment they're giving the Australian girls a lesson.

I don't mind the US winning in any collective sport (in fact, I'm sorry we eliminated them in baseball, and made things easier for the Cuban State team), but men's basketball is different.
If you went yesterday to a bar or restaurant with a TV outside the US, you'd think it was full of Lithuanians Laughing
The so-called Dream Team represents, to the rest of the world, American gloating, American media hype, American arrogance, American affluency. Hundreds of millions in the planet want those NBA players to bite the dust.
So it's very refreshing to see the other teams not being scared anymore.

GO ANGOLA!

Right on fb!
And Wilso, we take a British game, refine it and then introduce it to the olympics. In no time the Aussie girls will be spankin butt!

I agree, Fbaezer. Nothing is more refreshing than the underdog's winning... especially when the US is such an overdog ;D.

Incidentally; I can barely believe Paula Radcliffe dropped out so soon to the end of the Women's Marathon.

We are frustrated by our country's basketball team.
Without Yao Ming we even cannot get the ticket of Olimpics basketball game!

But we are really very exciting and astonished by the achievement of our Women's Tennis Team.
Maybe you have already knew that.
That is the first tennis golden medal in Olimpics and also the first medal.
Before that we even can't wish to take part in quarter-final!

But objectively our tennis is not good enough.
Just the Luck Smile

Yes, China is the sensation. They fight vs. the U.S for the overal victory on the medal ranking.

__

Yesterday Maurice Greene loose at 100m and grap the bronze medal, winner was Justin Gatlin.

At present the US basketball "nightmare team" leads against Angola...

USA "dream team" may be far from that, but even bigger surprise is performance of actual world champion - Serbia/Montenegro. They are eliminated in group stage after failing to win even against before few posts mentioned China.

On the other hand, Croatian handball team (world champions) is playing better and better - in last game of group stage they had fun with Spain - 30:22. My biggest worry is quarter final game, because we play against Greece. Greece absolutely don't exist in world of handball, and they are here only because they are hosts.
And that's biggest scare for Croats. Our sporting mentality is such that in this moment I think our handball team can lose only with exactly such team - "oh, heheh, Greece, we will destroy them without even entering the field" and then they lose.

Anyway, my eyes hurt because of staring in TV last 10 days Very Happy Best Olympics so far for Croatia, but, as always, a lot of great time while supporting small countries, especially those that never won olympic medal.
Two nights ago, when guy from Erithrea won bronze in 10,000 meter race I was happy almost as I would be if Croat took that medal Smile

And, I really wonder if, at this moment, my feelings are stronger for Croatian handball team, or for Iraqi soccer team. GO IRAQ!!!!!!
