Pretty good day for Australia. Gold in rowing in the men's coxless pairs, silver in cycling in the men's individual pursuit, bronze in swimming in the women's 50m freestyle, and Grant Hackett gold in the 1500m and a new Olympic record.

I had to get my gloating in now. With the end of the swimming Australia's medal haul is likely to dry up pretty quickly.

I don't recall a day which wasn't good for Australia

Anyway: gold medal for Inge de Bruijn, made her the best Dutch Olympic athlete EVER: a total of eight medals, four gold, two (or three) silver, two (or one) bronze (5 of them she won four years ago, in Sydney; 3 these Games - 1 gold, 1 silver, 1 bronze)

OK, you win. But you know (as I said on another thread): Germany - big; the Netherlands - small. Ha!

Why do you fly off on a tangent? ...

It's not a matter of size of a country, at present Germany is superior to Netherlands and that's it. Very Happy

Superior blablabla Cool You have to see it on a larger scale Thok. Once, we were the most powerful nation in the world. OK, we did some pretty nasty things too though (slavers, destroying cultures, killing a lot of people, and still being ignorant and believing we are their saviors ...), but economically, no one could beat us. For such a small country ... that's a heck of an achievement ... oh wait, this is the Olympic Games thread. Ehm ... GO INGE! Oh wait, she just had her last race. GO DUTCH HOCKEYTEAM!
