No I don't. That's the one thing I don't do. All I've admitted to is not being a Moslem and hating going to church, as for what I actually believe/don't believe I've kept schtum.

Unlike you I don't think there's any form of moral/intellectual superiority to be had by nailing my colours to the mast. And trying to inflict one's beliefs on someone else is boorish in the extreme.

Yes it is, Izzy...which is why I wonder why an intelligent person like you does it so much...just as I wondered what I wondered in my last post.

@Frank Apisa,
Frank you're a militant agnostic, admittedly your militancy isn't quite as extreme as other religious fanatics, but it's only a matter of degrees.

You may think you're adopting a reasonable position, but your actions make it the exact opposite.

You can't see this, or you refuse to see it. You ascribe weird ulterior motives to anyone who doesn't go along with this. You intrude on other threads, particularly Edgar's, when he's specifically told you he's not interested. Your behaviour is that of a proselytiser and a fanatic, and it's devalued your message.

Now you can miss the point entirely and accuse me of being scared or in awe of you or some **** like you usually do.

Izzy...you are entitled to your opinions...and I thank you for sharing the ones you do in the threads that I start.

I don't necessarily agree with many of them...but I listen to what you have to say.

Okay?

@Frank Apisa,
Of course it's okay, personally I'm thrilled you are so open as to read others opinions. I read yours as well, even though I seldom agree with you. Wow, this is so civililized.

@Frank Apisa,
It's not so much about agreeing or not agreeing but accepting others think differently. A zealot is convinced they're right and has problems dealing with others thinking differently. I think you're a bit like that, but like Gb I appreciate the tone of the conversation.

Thank you Izzy and Glitterbag.

Izzy, if I may...you are every bit as zealous in thinking you are right when you regularly and consistently call me incorrect.

But that is as it should be.

All of us here are a bit zealous.

No problem with that. If we weren't...most of us would not stick around.

The theists on the Internet ARE ZEALOUS.

The atheists on the Internet ARE ZEALOUS.

What on Earth is wrong with the agnostics on the Internet being zealous?

@Frank Apisa,
I take the opposite approach, as long as people don't preach hate they can believe what they want. Just don't try to ram it down my throat.

@izzythepush,
Uh oh Frank, was it premature to proclaim civilized? Everything time I start to get out, THEY DRAG ME BACK IN, (you have to imagine Al Pacino in "the Godfather")

I don't think so, Glitterbag.

Izzy and I have been at it for over a decade now...and we have our moments of very civil discussion...and some of "not quite so civil."

Gonna happen on the Internet...and gotta live with it.

Great line...and I have used it myself on several occasions.

But as I said above: Gonna happen; gotta live with it.

I always imagine Steven Van Zandt of The Sopranos doing Al Pacino in The Godfather

@izzythepush,
Izzy, was that a dream show or what. I'd find myself hoping one thug or another wouldn't get whacked, and then the writers would produce a line for the actors that really hit home exactly how pitiless and greedy and violent organized crime really is, I would sober right right up.

One of my favourite lines was from a show where Paulie Walnuts and Christopher had to go to a Russian mobsters house. Before they left Paulie asked "who is this guy?" The answer was something like, "he's a Russian used to belong to the "Ministry of the Interior" (I assumed they meant the newer version of the NKVD, People's Comissariat for Internal Affairs) When Paulie got to the apartment, he's looking around at the spare furnishings and says out loud, "This place don't look so great", mr. g'bag and I laughed out loud, I'm happy I wasn't drinking wine.

Desclaimer: I realize not everybody is old enough to remember the Workers Paradise, the former USSR, but Paulie assumed the Mobster had been an interior decorator back in Russia, instead of a dangerous and well trained man.

I demonstrate my certainty with actions, Frank. It's a lot like the belief you may have in your doctor. If a medical procedure or prescription is recommeded, you have to make a decision one way or the other.

You "demonstrate your certainty" of what?

And do you demonstrate it?

@Frank Apisa,
Yes. Its just another day when Frank the once aspiring Catholic Priest fails to recognize his conditioning and the subsequent failure to escape thinking about the "god concept" as a significant issue. He wanders around like the Ancient Mariner laden with his personal albatross.
