IMDB gave this dud a 6.5, which was probably 6 points more than it deserved. The Blair Witch project was, IMO, one of the most boring excuses for a film.

TO me? It wasn't the worst and it did have some scary atmosphere but yep. It was 90% boring as hell.

@tsarstepan,
I couldn't buy into the "lost in the woods" idea at all. I'm perfectly comfortable in a woods and can tell where I am from the position of the sun, inclines in the ground, etc.

Further the shaky handheld camera effect was just irritating and amateurish.

And to think. Elmer Bernstein composed the score to that stinker.

@tsarstepan,
What the hell. Sometimes a guy needs to do whatever he can do to earn a living----Seriously though, if I were a composer for the movies, I would rather starve than be attached to a flick like that!

Billy the Kid Versus Dracula, starring John Carradine, rates at least an honorable mention.

@edgarblythe,
Also worth mention are the Three Stooges movies. Utterly horrible movies meant to capitalize on the Stooges fame at the time, but terribly written idiocy, it makes the old Stooges television shows look like masterpieces by comparison.

Almost forgot about some to the really terrible cross-genre Christmas movies. How about "Santa Claus Conquers the Martians?" Surely nothing can top that.

@Banana Breath,
IF we later find that Mars in fact actually has a hidden Martian civilization, they will consider Santa Claus Conquers the Martians as one of the many war crimes the Earth has committed against Martian-kind.

And yes. That film has been mentioned here as well as the worst Christmas movies thread. And deservedly so. But at least theversion with the Rifftrax commentary track is exquisitely funny because of how bad that film is.

Without a doubt it was Wings of Fire, a German movie starring Peter Falk. Absolutely so dreadful we left before it was over, as did many others.

Did you mean, Wings of Desire (1987)? I haven't seen it but it's supposed to be a classic.

@Mame,
Many decades ago, I took my wife of the moment to see Jabberwocky. I think we might have made it to the halfway point. Enough is enough.

Yes, you're correct - that's the one. Don't know why it's supposed to be a classic but half the attendees thought as we did.

And another one my previous husband (igneous petrologist) and I thought was dreadful was "Volcano". I think I remember a scene in which a vehicle was actually driving over a lava flow.

I never saw this movie, having read the reviews at the time of release, and it still makes its way onto "Worst Movies" lists.

A Safe Place, 1971

Wikipedia wrote:
Jaglom's directorial debut was a "critical and box-office disaster" Time magazine called the film "pretentious and confusing", a film that "suggests that the rumors of his expertise were greatly exaggerated, or at least that it does not extend to directing." Vincent Canby described the film as a "superficial case history of a suicide" whose "narrative pretends to be a lot more complex"; Canby noted that the film "reveals the director's apparent adoration of his star, whom he studies in every possible light and color combination, and in every possible camera setup, often orchestrated with fine, corny songs out of the 1940s and 1950s on the order of Charles Trenet's 'La Mer' and 'Vous Qui Passez Sans Me Voir.'" Variety said the film's "deliberate experimentation puts a heavy burden upon the viewer." Its writer-director "has plunged in over his own depth."
