The school would care, never mind her caring about your going through their files. Being an intrusive and privacy violating idiot for what you fancifully suppose is love is not a mistake to laugh off.

Not just privacy - it could be a legal matter. Here it would be a police matter involving the school, the staff member and the person stealing the contact info.
