Soooooo, if I wear bigggg shorts and a largeeee brightly colored T-shirt, I won't be out of place?
Misti, Rae - wanna bet?
Mapleleaf, I'm beginning to sense that nothing, and I mean nothing, is going to be out of place. Still looking for the hat with the propeller on top.
Wheeeeee
Twirling
Can't wait to see what Roger wears.
Nice shirt Roger ........... you know what I mean:) Not to worry, I have sunglasses ready and a straw hat, just in case it's 'THAT' bright:)
Just for what it's worth, Misti, I did some online shopping and found a hat with a propeller. Hope it gets here in time. It is fairly bright, but sadness. Only the propeller glows in the dark.
Were you to go to Yahoo home page, select shopping, and enter "propeller hat" as search criteria, you will surely get the picture. Thanks for not showing the pic. It was done under artificial light and my skin isn't really that red.
I think I'm about to format the hard disc to try to lose some problems. I'm hoping it works and I can reestablish the internet connection without calling the isp on monday.
Roger, maybe we should all wear propeller hats for our gathering ... we may be ousted from Florida but what the heck, we'd have great laughs!
Are you going to wear this hat on your flight?
Hope you get your computer problems solved, they're a nuisance!
Probably take it onboard as 'hand carry' and wear the shirt under a trench coat. Then sneak into a phone both, and TA DA!
No phone booths at Orlando airport ~ phone kiosks, yes. All out in the open.....
It looks like mapleleaf and Roger will set the standard for the rest of us to follow. Just keep the fashion police away from Cocoa Beach.
Diane, I don't think you have to worry about fashion police in CB ... they're a style all to themselves:)
so - i have a question here
does anyone know how many miles
or how many hours, of a drive it will be
from the Florida State line, to
Cocoa Beach - where you are all going to be
I am trying to figure out if I can drive it or not.
Hiya Babs,
I used to drive up to Gainesville all the time ~ that took me about two and a half to three hours. My hotel is about twelve miles south of Cocoa Beach.
Alright, I'm checking my wardrobe and supply of hats. Hmm, I'll have to do some shopping in Florida. And I decided to get some artificial sun before we're leaving - so I won't burn the minute I get into that convertible :-)
Actually, the weather is great here at the moment. Very sunny, blue sky - and freezing cold in the morning. So that won't do anything for my tan.
I only have two more weeks to work - ten days!!!!! I am so excited!
And about accents - I don't really have an accent - most of the time. BigDice will pick up whatever accents are around. He loves accents!
Ooooh, I have to say I'm so ENVIOUS of all of you that I actually checked the Last-Minute Vacations on Yahoo to see how much it would cost to fly to Orlando.
(more than I expected......)
Piffka, that's a shame! We'd love to see you there.
You are so sweet. If it drops below $500, I'll be very tempted!
Anyway, YOU are going to have a wonderful time

and we all want to hear about it... partying vicariously is the next best thing to being there!
Pif, are you serious? B. and I fly into Seattle at the end of August. You live in that area, right?
Even though most of our time will be spent visiting my college roommate (62-63) who lives in Vancouver, BC, we hope to look around. For ideas, I've been reading the PORTLAND, SEATTLE AND VANCOUVER thread.
Well, I'm serious that I did look and would be tempted! The best I could find was about $650 for the trip and a car... no Cocoa Beach hotels were listed. But those things change. I love checking out the Last-Minute vacations!
I did meet some abuzzers in Tucson a year ago, and went to NYC last fall to meet more. Diane was at both of these events, she'll tell you... I'm a little bit wild & crazy and liable to do things like that!
Mapleleaf -- it would be fantastic if you wanted to get together in WA in August! I'm in the little town of Gig Harbor, which tries hard to be a "destination" spot. August is the height of WA's tourist season, so for some of those things I mentioned, Mt. Rainier guest lodgings and the San Juans being the two that first come to mind, you need to get reservations soon. Both are favorites of mine. You'll love Vancouver, too. Great place.
