The Libs in SA are a hoot.

The factions hate each other soooooo much that they leak stuff to the ALP and the media.

Like huuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuge secret documents!!!!

But <thinking out loud> I'm wondering what is the POINT of statements like that at this stage? What's his agenda? How does Mr Atkinson know that Labor can't win in 2007 at this stage? A lot can happen in 3 years. (For starters, it's unlikely Howard will still be PM.) Is he saying that the policies are wrong? Or that more attention should be put on economic management, as Carmen Lawrence said? I think that most people would think that Latham went further than he really had to over the Tasmanian forests in the final week of the campaign ... Is that what it's all about? Poor judgement over the Greens alliance?

And I think the morale of the troops is very important. Especially at a time like this, which is so crushing for many. There is much that could rally people to Labor at this stage - particularly those looking for truth & integrity in politics - it would be a crying shame if this opportunity was lost as a result of bitter public in-fighting. Again.

Atkinson? Hmmm - dunno.

I rawther wonder if he was just so distressed that he blew his mouth off - or thought it off the record, or something.

I will find out the back story for you, when I can. How's that?

Unless Howard really drops a load - funny, isn't it? One is almost tempted to hope the next three years are really awful....

They ARE going to be awful. The Coalition has just been handed a blank cheque when it comes to passing legislation. Here's some ideas for starters.....

-ABC staff and headquarters to be relocated to Australian Antarctic Territory, look forward to 'Penguins in Sequins'
-the passing of new laws in industrial relations, The 'They Looked at Me Funny' Instant Dismissal Act
-trees classed as 'Enemy Combatants', forestry workers hired as 'anti-terror' troops
-HMAS Sink'em (6 guns, no rescue equipment) to patrol northern waters
-retrospective trial of Tampa captain
-re-run of the 1966 Referedum on Indigenous People, Pauline Hanson to act as adjudicator and final judge

Aaaargh - it isn't funny.

What they have already done to the ABC is making me sick at heart - and I can just imagine the fight we have on our hands industrially, if the Patrick's **** was any guide.

Waaaaaaaaaaaah!

Group hug! We need a group hug!!!!

What will be the fallout when the interest rates go up (by early next year) and if some Australian hostages are taken and beheaded in Iraq (Allah forbid)?

Interest rate rises will be the fault of "worsening world economic conditions", nothing to do with the Oz government, thank you very much!

And .... God, I can't even contemplate that other one, hingehead, except to say that "we can't negotiate with terrorists".
