It seems that the dixiecrats are back in charge of the democratic party. How many people are in favor of this?

@reasoning logic,
"Gucifer"works for the Russians.

The Russians want Trump to be President because Trump is going to disband NATO, which is Russia's fondest wish. Without NATO, Russia would likely be in control of all Europe. With NATO, Russia goes nowhere.

The Russians are afraid Hillary, with her strong emphasis on defense, will beat Trump in an election.

So, the Russians want Bernie, so Trump can have an easier opponent. By the same token, the Republicans don't attack Bernie much, since they would like to see him beat Hillary for the nomination.

Got it now?

OK so you think that Putin and Donald are conspiring?

@reasoning logic,
I don't know if they are conspiring, but however Trump arrives at his ideas of national defense, they serve Russia's interests. Check out this video starting from the 0:45 second mark. What Trump is calling for is the dissolution of NATO. Putin had to be jumping for joy when he saw Trump say this.

@Blickers,
I have to have a serious problem with anyone in national level politics that thinks Russia and China are our friends. The cold war is back, and they are the cause.

Humorous way to put it, but that's what it's going to amount to. Thing is, that's not a big deal yet, not too many people are talking about it. Yet.

It disqualifies Trump in and of itself.

@Blickers,
Here's the thing that drives me crazy, Russia never really quit the cold war. In the past few years the US has rolled up Russian spy rings and we (most US citizens) barely noticed. Before 9/11, many vocal critics were asking "do we really need an Army anymore", the idiots in Congress didn't feel a need to disabuse their constitutes of the actual threats the US faced.

But, it's late, and if I continue to rant about how yippee-skippy oblivious most Americans are about their own safty, I'll develop an ulcer.

@glitterbag,
I think most people are not aware true facts, I know I am not. I know nothing of Russia. (I did read an interesting on the WP about Trump's history with Russia which started with his beauty pageant thing.)

All we see are our soldiers forever over the ME in some region killing and getting killed and/or maimed. It is like plugging up holes in a leak, you no sooner get one plugged up when another one pops up somewhere else. It seems a loosing proposing with no exit plan in sight. On the other hand there is no real alternative unless we should just let it go and just concentrate on our country when the terrorist strike; dealing with it through non military means. I am not really smart enough to know which we should do.

@revelette2,
I meant loosing proposition, not "loosing proposing with no exit plan in sight." Just thought I would get that out there.

Revellette might let the occasional spelling or grammatical mistake sneak in, but overall her posts are well written. As far as American troops going over to the Middle East, it's a tough question. Should we have just ignored the fact that the Taliban nurtured bin Laden and let him hatch the plans for the World Trade Center destruction? Don't think so.

Iraq was the big mistake, in my opinion. Especially since the second round of UN inspectors under Hans Blix were finding out that the Iraqis actually were complying with the schedule of WMD destruction as per agreement-they just weren't letting in inspectors to check, until the end. Saddam later confessed that he really had no WMDs, but he was so afraid that Iran would invade without him being able to militarily repel them that he wanted the world-especially Iran-to think that he had WMDs. Without that, he was afraid that Iran would just march right into Baghdad.

From the Iraq invasion, most of the Middle East problems came.

(thanks, btw)

Anyway, but what do you think we should do? Should our military just spend the rest of eternity, however long that is, over there fighting?

@Blickers,
What's interesting to me was the fact that I wrote to Diane Feinstein not to approve the war, but she said with the information they had, she had to agree.
Their intel stinks and/or they were lied to.
I lost confidence in our government.

Do you think that there could be a possibility that trump himself sees a military advantage to do away with NATO? Do you think that we may have an industrial military complex that provides a welfare for some elites who have their lives savings invested in it?

Do you think that any idea such as yours or mine can find overwhelming evidence to support either idea?
