@engineer,
But why would she do that, and what are the chances?

@Blickers,
Even if she can't release them before the first vote, all she has to do is refuse the nomination. Then it goes to a second vote where the delegates are unbound.

@DrewDad,
And the chances of that are somewhere between fat and slim.

@DrewDad,
Refuse the nomination to send it to the second ballot where all delegates are unbound? Could be possible, but once again the appearance to the public would be a screw-over of the guy who came out of nowhere, worked hard for a year to come quite close, then when the winner gets indicted loses out to party insider machinations. Yes, it may be possible for the Democratic Party to execute this legally, but will the public buy the resulting candidate as legitimate?

@Blickers,
Convince me that anyone involved in election politics cares what the public 'buys'.

What about the voters who voted Hillary over Bernie? Some of us actually do not want Bernie Sanders to be president, I know I don't which is the only reason I voted for Hillary. I would have voted for Biden.

@revelette2,
I'm pretty sure I would have voted for Biden, had he chosen to run. I think I would prefer Sanders over Clinton or Trump, but that isn't to be.

@roger,
Oh well, at least Biden goes out on a good note. Had he run, he would have been run through the ringer like the rest of them. No telling what would have came out. All of us have skeletons in our closets.

I like Biden too, better than Hillary Clinton or Sanders, though in the beginning of this election fooforaw, I was agreeing with a lot of Sanders' points. He got, over time, to seem pie in the sky without mode for getting things done. I did understand why Biden didn't run. Not that I always liked him over the years, but I take him as overall sane; liked him better than the others as a person.

I know that many of you and Debbie herself find her to be god like but maybe there is a possibility that you are willing to hear an apposing point a view.

Do you notice what this young man has hanging on his wall?

If the candidate is seen as not being legitimately elected by his own party, he or she will be severely handicapped in the general election. Although the political parties are private organizations that are free to select their candidate in any manner they chose, (except perhaps for those states which require the delegate to vote for the candidate whose name appears on the ballot, at least in the first round), the public has come to regard the presidency as an office where first you win the election in your own party, then you win the general election.

If it looks like your nomination was crooked, a large part of your base might not vote for you.

If Hillary does get indicted, the strongest choice for the Democrats might well be running Hillary with Biden as VP. If she can't fulfill her duties due to legal matters, you at least have someone in the bullpen you like.

Do you find this to be true in other dictatorial countries?

@revelette2,
No matter who's winning or who's running, super delegates shouldn't even speak up about who they'd support until primary voting is over. I'm glad people are speaking out about how so-called super delegates are undemocratic and elitist.

it would look like they realize a candidate who is liked across the aisle has a decent chance

they might lose some supporters of Mr. Sanders but they might pick up a heaping helping of independents and republicans who don't want Mr. Trump and didn't care for Mr. Sanders or Mrs. Clinton.

Common knowledge to Bernie supporters, confirmed by Harvard study: Media blackout of Sanders campaign badly damaged his chances.

@Lash,
I do not believe I am any more mouthy than you. In the democrat primary, Hillary had most of the older vote while Bernie had the younger. So if in fact there are missing senior votes, more than likely they were mostly Hillary supporters.

Young v old votes for Bernie and Hillary in the 2016 primaries
