Bernie Sanders Seems to Have Forgotten a Few of His Votes

That's the problem with his holier-than-thou attitude.

@revelette2,
The guy who set up that meeting was fired.

The pope set up his meeting with Bernie. LOL. You're really stewing in your jealousy over the pope respecting Bernie, aren't you?

Wonder what he thinks about Hillary... LOL!!

@Lash,
We really don't know if a meeting between the pope was set up with before hand with Pope Francis or if they happened to catch the pope at the good advantageous moment. It was good he had the moment and the Pope talked to him. He also talked to Kim Davis and gave her a rosary. Those are facts.

@revelette2,
Well if he can meet Kim Davis - surely he has time for the great and powerful Hillary? Where's Hillary's invitation??

I've got plans today, so I won't spending every spare moment (been spending too much time doing this as I haven't been feeling well...)anyway, I just hope some folks in the upcoming primaries give the Bernie/Vatican visit some thought before attaching too much significance to it. Bernie is milking it for all it is worth and I hope they see that, starting when he first started fishing for an invite and to announcing to the press he saw the pope. Just saying.

@revelette2,
You have no idea what you're talking about. You made claims you cannot prove. It's just gossip.

The facts are: he was invited to speak at an economic summit on economic fairness; he met with the pope.

All else is conjecture.

But that would be like pandering, and Bernie isn't capable of that kind of thing. Everything Bernie does is for noble and selfless reasons - you must not have gotten the memo.

Some church officials take issue with the Vermont senator’s version of events.

Quote:
After Sen. Bernie Sanders announced he'd been invited to a major Vatican-sponsored forum on poverty – a high-profile "get," taking place just ahead of the New York Democratic primary – a top Vatican official in charge of the event has called him out for a breach of diplomatic protocol.

Margaret Archer, president of the Pontifical Academy of Social Sciences, blasted the Vermont senator for "monumental discourtesy," suggesting he wrangled a back-door invitation that kept her in the dark, according to Bloomberg Politics.

@revelette2,
That's just an old antisemitic bitch. She hates Bernie. Others in the Vatican have said she's full of ****. (They may not have used those exact words...) Smile

A Bloomberg report quoted Margaret Archer, president of the Pontifical Academy of Social Sciences, as saying that Sanders had broken with protocol by failing to contact her office first. "This is not true and she knows it. I invited him with her consensus," said [Monsignor Marcelo Sanchez] Sorondo, who is senior to Archer.

An invitation to Sanders dated March 30, which was emailed to Reuters, was signed by Sorondo and also included Archer's name.

@Lash,
Perhaps she didn't know her name was on the invitation, Sanchez is not the president of the conference which was held though it appears he is her senior and a close aide to the pope. He said he signed it but said her name was on the invitation, not that she signed it. One of them is clearly lying, the whole thing is a ugly mess.

Bernie divorced his first wife ( a lovely, cultured, Jewish woman ), after 18 months of marriage. Jane Sanders ( once married in the Catholic Church) divorced her Catholic husband, left the Catholic Church ( because of the divorce from her Irish, Catholic husband ) and then married Bernie Sanders, some time later. Neither Jane nor her present husband ( Bernie Sanders) are members of the Catholic Church. I have to assume (? I could be wrong), that Jane is still a Christian and has not converted to Judaism, but why would she convert to Judaism, since Bernie is an ethnic Jew but not a observant Jew ( seems like old Bernie doesn't believe in God...since Jews who are observant, do believe in God).

Now, neither Mr nor Mrs Clinton has been divorced and both are practicing Christians. Just maybe, Mrs Clinton didn't receive a Pope's invite, because
she is an observant Christian, who has never been divorced.

Seems to me, based on all the Yah-Yah coming recently from the Vatican, the Pope favors divorced folks over those folks who remain married through thick and thin...as have the Clintons ( who are observant Christians, who incidentally don't care or worry about Pope Frank ).

Does Bernie actually think "real New Yorkers" care about the Pope? Will the Pope be voting in next Tuesday's NY election???

@Miller,
You are so right! Bernie's not trying to get votes from this visit. He just admires and shares the pope's push for global economic justice.

It's also cool that, like Jesus Christ, a peripheral figure in Christianity that still matters to some people - go figure - the pope nor Bernie believes that people have to maintain a facade of personal perfection to be relevant.
