@Lash,
Quote Lash:
Quote:
The truth about how the black race in this country has been subjugated by Democrats is now on record and undeniable.

Name one major Civil Rights bill that was introduced by a Republican. The first bills to prevent bias against blacks were the Depression era work bills during the Roosevelt Administration, which guaranteed that blacks would get proportional hiring under these programs. Then there was Executive Orders Numbers 9980 and 9981 by Harry Truman, which desegregated the Federal Civil Service and the Armed Forces, respectively. Then there was Brown v Board of Education in 1954, which was decided by eight justices appointed by Democrats and one Chief Justice appointed by a Republican, Earl Warren, whose name became mud among Republicans and conservatives for this decision and several later decisions guaranteeing civil liberties in the non-racial sphere. Then in 1964, 1965, and 1968, the blockbuster Civil Rights legislation prevented discrimination in public accommodations, (conservatives are still fighting this one), hiring, housing, and all the rest.

While Republicans did vote for the last few bills, they were written and introduced by Democrats and pushed by Johnson. The entire Civil Rights movement in the twentieth century was implemented by Democrats.

With this post Lash further drops the "progressive" mask she's been using and reveals herself as a conservative pretending to be something else.

@revelette2,
Not sure i get what you mean. Israel needs to withdraw from the West Bank. So yeah, it's up to them. Otherwise what do you propose? That the US starts a war with Israel to force them to withdraw?!?

@Olivier5,
I mean he said more or less what US presidents have been saying for years in recent history. All of them say the settlements are illegal but none of them support anything in the UN to do anything about it. Every time a vote comes up with anything to do with Israel and Palestinians we either abstain or vote no against the Palestinians. Bernie proposes more of the same. I think an international effort should be underway to force them to withdrawal in whatever means is necessary to do it so that when or if the day ever comes when Palestinians get their own state they don't start out being cheated because Israel stole their lands.

Edit, hopefully and more than likely by peaceful means and international agreements.

@revelette2,
He did say that the US should stopp supply arms to Isrsel if they don't withdraw. That has teeth. It's new. It's not the usual yada yada.

@Blickers,
Many of your posts immediately jump from a legitimate issue into the overriding dodge by Democrats, which is a knee-jerk false dichotomy with Republicans. Nobody's talking about Republicans. Setting such miserably low standards for Democrats is why we have Pretend Republican Trump running against Republican Light Clinton.

Judge your leaders against what they should be. Clean up the mess you've made.

@Lash,
So you have no factual response to the fact that virtually every major Civil Rights legal advance since the 1930s has been fostered or introduced by the Democrats. You parrot the conservative charge that the Democratic Party holds blacks back, and can't back it up. Your posts are nonsense, as is your game of pretending to be a progressive of any type.

He said that in the late 80's from what I've been able to see online. Do you have anything more recent?

@Olivier5,
He didn't say that in the interview, I don't think anyone has asked if he still supports such a statement. Somehow I doubt he would say he would outright he would support to stop sending arms to Israel in an election year. If it was said in in the 80's, then it is not new.

@Olivier5,
Yeah, it's not there.

In fact, he's voted repeatedly for bills that provide military aid to Israel.

But you've said that I have reading problems and that I make things up to suit my own needs (sockpuppets, hahaha), so maybe I'm wrong?

@Olivier5,
Here is the transcript Oliver, no where does he say what you said he said about withholding military arms to Israel.

@revelette2,
I stand corrected, got my references mixed up. You are right that he is not advocating strong arm-twisting of Israel right now. It's just a position of principle that the settlements are illegal.

Any difference with Hillary's position?

You're actually right this time, and I was wrong. It's rare enough to deserve a mention.

@Olivier5,
One thing I admire of which few of do is admit when we made an error. Takes guts.

Anyway, I know Obama has said time and again the settlements are illegal, but I really don't know what if anything Hillary has said anything about them. If I have my guess, she will skirt that particular question. Much easier to just say "Israel is our partner...."

@revelette2,
Thanks. It's no skin off my nose to admit I'm wrong when I am. I'm not campaigning, nor am I trying to be popular. I'm just interested in the issues, and therefore it's in my interest to keep it frank and clearcut.

Clinton sat down for another interview with CNN in 2014 in which she criticized Israel's settlement activity, saying it is her "biggest complaint with the Israeli government."

"I am a strong supporter of Israel, strong supporter of their right to defend themselves. But the continuing settlements which have been denounced by successive American administrations on both sides of the aisle are clearly a terrible signal to send if at the same time you claim you're looking for a two-state solution. "
