Outch Clary! Wink Spendius is a fictional character of Flaubert.

Did you have a good Monday so far?

Good morning spendius! Not lounging, typical Monday morning here, trying to get little Jane to rush. Need to leave in 5 minutes.

Are you busy at work?

Have been but I'm back in my nice,brown-toned library now.

Have you ever seen that survey which showed that there is a statistical correlation between blurting out obscene, gratuitous jibes and both stupidity and ugliness?

No I haven't!

Are you talking about Tourette syndrom or voluntary
obscene talk?

I don't remember.It's an old survey.The sample,and that's an apt name,was mainly drawn from the dock area of our semi-derelict sea-ports.
I have heard of Tourette's syndrome but not the other which sounds a mite like self destruction syndrome.

What is Tourette syndrome in a few choice words?

I guess it is a neurological disorder where one blurts out
obscenities (involuntarily) and other noises, sometimes
in conjunction with rapid body movements. A co-workers
husband had Tourette's and she always wrote down his
obscenities for us - quite clever sometimes.

The study you've read probably just has a correlation
between the utter usage of obscene words and the
intellecutal level of these test subjects as well as visual
challenges (ugliness is such a harsh word), right?

Yes,I agree but it is in the language to provide a suitable designation for thankfully rare physical and spiritual conditions.I wouldn't normally use such a word.I much prefer beautiful conditions.Like "and I can hear their music".

Would you have liked being a Siren in another lifetime?

Yes and no. I'm not sure that I would have liked the
body of a bird, but to bewitch men with my singing,
could be interesting.

What made you think of a Siren?

Oh-word associations I suppose.

Have you a favourite word at the moment?

Yes.I have two too.Bumpskins and Suspenders.

Would your two make a title for a literary masterpiece?

Haha! Probably not for the title, rather for the review of it.

What is Bumpskins?

Oh-it was just one of those inspired moments when I was posting.I'm mildly surprised you haven't seen it.Perhaps it is just as well.

Utterly was the fictional name of the location of the action in BRASS which was a vitriolic satire on Capitalism and very funny.

Absolutely Fabulous was a comedy series, not always funny but often so,starring Johanna Lumley.
I only saw a bit of that but BRASS was a must.

I listen to radio mostly.Do you?

I do too, as I find radio more entertaining - especially
the Los Angeles DJ's are quite witty, and the music great.

Absolutely Fabulous I've seen many times. I just
adore Edwina and Patsy.
Johanna Lumley is a knockout, isn't she?

Not for me.Too pea-nut buttery for my tastes. My pub used to have a signed photograph of Jo.She's a vegan you know.It disappeared shortly after the landlady ran off with one of the better-off customers. It must have belonged to her.I daren't ask the landlord because he's been a bit grumpy since.I keep telling him to get one or two older barmaids. The ones we have are mere slips of girls.
Much too young for him to be seeking solace with I should have thought.

Have you ever been a barmaid?

No, never! I am not very good at serving strangers, plus
I like to go to bed before midnight.

What does pea-nutt buttery mean?

You know what it means Cal.It was you who taught it me.I would never have thought of hinting that someone reminded me of pea-nut butter stuck to the roof of the mouth.I thought it rather good and I simply took the opportunity of showing you that I hadn't missed it and that I felt that Ab Fab's Jo came over in a like manner. She is doing a series of ads at the moment where she has a male in one or two situtaions suitable for television where she has a man in what you referred to as a "subordinate" position.I don't know what is being advertised but I'll bet women take to it spiritually.

I presume you like Benny Hill then?

I used to like him when I was young and knew no better but now I cringe.

Do you like League of Gentlemen? You (Spendius, I mean) seem as though you might come from Royston Vaizey.

Spendius, now I understand the peanut butter tarty taste Wink
Very good assumption as I can see similarities in both cases.
I love Benny Hill, especially when he made fun of us "Krauts".

I'll repeat Clary's question: Do you like League of Gentlemen? You (Spendius, I mean) seem as though you might come from Royston Vaizey.
