Depends on what "a lot" is - I'd say 'a fair amount' and I feel as you do. I'm excited to go and to be there...
What is the last place you travelled to?
Outside England? (There, you know what time zone I'm in) - I spent 5 months travelling Europe earlier this year, the last one would have been France, my alter domus (if that's a term)
Do you have plans to travel more soon?
Yes, we plan on a diving trip to either Honduras or Costa Rica... if we go to the latter, I want to look at vacation property.
I love visiting Europe - we went over several times when my daughter lived there... what part of Enland are you in?
Southwest, in the pretty bit - Totnes. Where was yr daughter?
If you go to Costa Rica, tell me when and I'll meet up with you there; always wanted to go there but never actually did it.
Have you dived in the Red Sea?
She was in Edinburgh for a year, then London (Blackheath area) for 8 months...
We haven't dived the Red Sea but we want to. One of my sisters has visited CR many times and raves about it. Stable, clean, positive place... so we want to go... Will keep you posted - that would be a fun visit. We're thinking Jan/Feb 2007 (to get away from the rain here)...
Ever been to Canada?
JAN-FEN 2007 WOULD BE PERFECT!!
Yes, been to Vancouver a couple of times, are you working at the uni of BC?
Ha! UBC - I used to work there... did you attend as a student? When was the last time you were in Vancouver and why?
I went to see my daughter in both places, plus my husband was in Bristol for part of a sabbatical, so I was there with him for a month; we also went to Wales, and Ireland on a different trip... my family is originally from Slough, but they are all over now (Exmouth, Circester?, Leeds - god knows where else)..
Have you ever been to Greece?
No.
Have we to all come back when you have covered all the places in the Atlas?
Oh yes, many times. I was visiting a friend who was postsgrad at UBC.
Why Greece?
Sorry, why Greece what? Why was I asking? It's one of my favourite places, so far...
Do you play cards?
Surely it's as good a place as anywhere to drive a conversation into the pits of despair.
Do you talk in pubs about the places you have visited?
I used to play Strip Snap in my younger days but alas the strain got to me and I took up couch calisthenics.
Is Poker any good?
No. We talk about women and football and cricket and money and the useless bar staff. But women mainly.
They are such interesting creatures don't you think?
A bit, but have resisted bridge so far, my father used to teach it! But may succumb...
Why do you ask?
Ask what. I asked about women.
Bridge is awful. Unless it's over troubled waters.
What's your favourite drink when you're flushed up?
I don't know because I'm not sure what you mean by "flushed up". That term could be taken several different ways, depending on the context.
Are you still talking cards?
I think he wants to know if you think it's okay for him and his buds to talk about women, and if you agree that we are interesting creatures.
Then he wanted to know if you agree that Bridge is okay only over troubled waters.
Then he wanted to know what your tipple of choice is.
Do you have any answers for him?
I don't. That's why I asked.
Do you think any of those little babies you like talking about will grow up to be anything like me or Setanta?
I certainly hope not.
That would be too cruel, wouldn't it?
