No, prob. Just give me a little while. I'm workin' on dinner & kid's homework, etc...
p.s. I like your quotes.
Personally, I prefer non-fiction. I like history and I like knowing the facts about people and things. But I read fiction as well, especially the classic novels or a book I've been told is exceptionally good.
If you had your choice - when &/or where would you most like to be & why?
I am completely open to advice and constructive criticism. Some I've needed, some I haven't needed. Still, my ego can handle self-evalutaion.
What about yourself?

Do you take advice?
I agree, Spendi-. You're right. I've been there. They don't take any too kindly especially too Christians. You'd think they thought I think they should be crucified or something!
(L&M, what would you for me to call our new thread on the philosophy forum?)
Spendi-, if you would, answer L&M's question, please?

Quote:A (loaded) question for the next player: Do you prefer the fictional or non-fictional?
I'm not sure pure non-fiction is possible except maybe in scientific language where figures of speech are absent.
But in the general sense I prefer non-fiction although I suppose my favourite books are classed as fiction which they might only be superficially.
The style is what attracts me.
Does it not you?
Here you go, L&M! Just for you. Let the discussion begin!:

That, and the story/ the author's writing ability shall we say. I love a well-written novel just as much as a good true life story. I find real people just so fascinating.
Do you?
Real people are always fascinating if not intriguing.
The unreal people, you know the type, mindless neurotic Freudian's!
Psycho neurosis nurtures a predisposition to dissociative reaction, surrender to irresistible impulse, or as we see from our 'Dear friend 'and colleague who we know so well, a state of temporary insanity.
It never ceases to amaze me that highly successful and socially acceptable psychopaths are indeed common in the upper echelons of society, obviously that state of mind helps them to succeed in the first instance.
When you think of it, it is the psychotic who is out of tune with reality, not the psychopath.
Where would you place the insane one?
I suppose it depends on your definition of insane and the said "insane" one's particular mental illness.
I myself suffer from depression - I know, not dev! It's meerly bio-chemical for me. I take my drugs & I'm mostly fine. Surely you wouldn't institutionlize me?
Some just blend right in and don't hurt anyone. I say let 'em! A certain percentage of the homeless are said to be schizophrenic. Have you heard that? They can't afford and many times don't want care so they're left to themselves.
What is your opinion of the "insane" and/or what to do with them?

(Mathos, I'm curious... Are you ragging on spendius out of affectionate male-to-male masculine humor? Or are you serious with it? If you're just kidding around, it would be nice to use emoticons such as

, etc., so that we don't misunderstand you.)

That is so sad. If I had my way, I'd dispense with conventional treatment and use alternative, one-on-one help for them.
Hi-Lights and Magic,
Why should I have an opinion on the insane, they have their own predispositions and always like to be heard, some of them get rather excited and violent if you ignore them? Are they mad, is anybody mad, or are we all totally 'bonkers' serving a spell on this burning rock, floating through space, killing one another? Have we all been placed here to serve a sentence for instance?
Assessment of the human mind, especially when it isn't our own, tends to create outlandish
diagnosis, well backed up by the fact that those who break the news, have all been educated to the same levels.
I might be tempted to concur with myself and from my own experiences that Spendius is simply a very ordinary intoxicated drunk in the grip of a temporary psychosis his regressive behavioral effects resulting in avatistic, child like reactions.
(Watch this space)
However, I admire your choice of one to one help.
But, the various governments do not, hence they throw these poor souls into padded cells, where they are visited by poorly educated brawny ruffians who take psychotic delight in torturing them both physically and mentally, they are supplied with fancy uniforms and name tags, duly stamped and dated with a photograph.
See what I mean? We are quite evil as a human race. I don't see 20,000 people demonstrating for care and real attention to the so called insane!
Santa Claus wears a red suit, must be a communist!
Got long hair and a white beard, he's a pacifist.

We have this insane tendency to judge every book by it's cover, even though we know that is wrong.
I think they should all be let free, all of them!
I don't know what normality is, do you?
Hello, my friend Mathos! Why BE normal, I like to say! I don't think anyone really knows what normal is or how much insanity you need to keep yourself sane! It's all kind of relative to who and where you are, I suppose. Sounds like a discussion for the philosophy forum!
You said:
"We have this insane tendency to judge every book by it's cover, even though we know that is wrong."
Seems people as a whole are not generally evolved or mature enough not too.
I think it's part of the human maturing process to try to overcome doing this judging. I try hard not to, but can't say I'm completely guiltless. Some who are mature in age have definitely not matured in their thinking! All I know is that "the more I know, the more I know I don't know"!
What have you learned from your experiences with people in general? (ANY & all people - those you grew up with, those you've met...)
That women want careful watching and that it is absolutely necessary that they don't become Amazons because otherwise we men have just had it and would have to let them dig the ditches, fight the wars and fix the punctures whilst we were reduced to swanning around the shops, wearing pretty diaphanous underwear and discussing how we were being exploited.
Do you like genuine English marmalade?
Really? Is that how you really feel about women, Math-y?
I've had marmalade and liked it, but I'm not sure it was 'genuine English'.
Do you like any particularly "American" foods?
No.I can't say that I do actually.
I once tried Budweiser but I soon gave it up.By soon I mean SOON.Like straight away.
What is a typical American food?
Well, I suppose Philadelphia cheesesteak sandwiches would count, deli-type sandwiches, hamburgers, hotdogs, apple pie ... french fries (yes, I get the irony!) ice cream cones (with ice cream, of course).
Does any of that suit you?
What is considered British fare? (I know of clotted cream, and a few other things I can't think of right now, Oh, someone - maybe you - mentioned a dessert called "spotted dick"...)
And if you're not English, what is considered typical food where you are?
What is considered British fare?
Tripe and onions,Lancashire hot-pot,black puddings, pea and ham soup, bubble and squeak, jellied eels and last but not least steak pudding, double chips, mushy peas and double gravy with treble bread and butter and a pint of thick, well stewed sweet tea.(Ideal for supper after eight pints of John Smith's Extra Smooth and served up by a game waitress with no health warnings.)
Is it true that the American political class live on rubber chicken?

You'd think so, wouldn't you? I know there are supposedly some good politicians. I actually know one at our state level. But I'm not a fan of talking politics. My feeling is that anyone worth their weight in salt (or anything else for that matter) wouldn't be caught dead in politics! The one really good, honest politican we had around here died several years ago.
Do you like to talk about your country's politics/politicians?
Yes indeed. The subjects are an endless form of amusing entertainment in peacetime which might explain why they are eager for war.
Have you heard of the peerages on sale at the swapmeet?
Can't say that I have, Spendi-? Do you mean genealogies?
Would you please clarify? And is there such a thing done there in Britain?
