It is hot everywhere aidan. Look HERE
I assume it is due to hurricane Emily, that we're having such tropical
weather out here. I do hope, it will subside by tomorrow...

How is it over there? Much cooler?

Do you live near enough to the ocean to go everyday if you want to?

Yes, I'm only 5 min from the ocean, but I get sunburned fast, so I don't go as often as I should. I remember NJ shores (Sandy Hook, Asburry Park), when I lived in NYC
for a while.

Do you know, how long you're in England for?

Yes I did! NYC is a very exciting city, especially for new comers. That was of course BC (before child) and before
coming to California.

Sandy Hook was a great beach, wasn't it?

Was it?

It must have gone by without my noticing.

Did I miss anything interesting?

Not from my point of view - I was gone myself for a while,
so haven't read any other threads.

When were you in Iraq?

Oh Cal-that quite a while back really. It's a long story. But it wasn't half hot.You couldn't touch anything made of iron.We had to take a good few salt tablets with every meal.It was only supposed to be two days but the plane we were travelling in dropped one of its two engines onto the runway during a take-off and we had to wait a month for a spare to arrive from Blighty.I loved it.It sand-blasted every last scorrick of my incipient travel bug clean off the earth.Fortunately there was an Olympic sized pool and I spent most of the week in that but we went into Baghdad at weekends to play snooker in the club which used to be on that street where the cameras were when they covered Shock and Awe.I once drank 18 cans of iced Coca Cola just strolling up and down there.

Have you ever drunk that much coke in an afternoon?

Oh gosh no. I don't really like to drink coke, I prefer
mineral water. An entire month in Iraq instead of a couple
of days? That would be sheer horror for me. Interesting
about the salt tablets.....

Didn't you have problems with the obviously different
climate?

Other than the fact that it got on our nerves no.The accomodation, being temporary and the government being short of money due to voters being stingy,tight-fisted colostomy contents, was a luxury tent.It actually had a bed in it.One of those cast-iron things with a thin stained mattress. If you touched that with your arm as you reached out for something in a dream it woke you up.The sand on the floor was handy for stubbing fags out in and, most important,Kilroy had lived there.

Have you heard of Kilroy?

Just like real life eh?

I believe during WWII the American soldiers had this
phrase "Kilroy was here" that became famous, and later
a cartoon was named Kilroy as well.

Yes, this is living - would be too much for me. I'm the
spoiled one, remember?

Yes-I do remember.I remember also Bob Hope shoving Marilyn to the front of the stage with the words-"This is what you're fighting for boys."

Have you seen that piece of film history?

Hahaha, no I haven't, but Bob Hope was priceless. I
could see him doing that, hehe.

I just was outside. It is drizzling and it feels so good....

Can you smell when the rain is coming?

Usually. Not always.Once in the ME there was a big thunderstorm and everybody rushed outside waving their arms at the sky and howling like banshees.I have never disliked rain since. It falleth like the gentle dew from heaven.Like mercy.

Still 12" in a night is a bit much isn't it?

(and speaking of night.......)

We got a lot of rain during the winter and at one point,
we had around 8" in a couple of hours, flooding quite a few
areas.
Oh yes, good night spendius, sleep well.

I guess, I'll make dinner. Any suggestions for dinner?
