It says critical error and it won't let you submit.

Are you always so problem free?

I suppose so.

Am I odd?

I'd say more rare than odd and extremely lucky - except that I know it has nothing to do with luck - it is probably a personality trait that was hard won.

When you were speaking with Francis - you said that certain responses were superficial. Do you really think that?

I was being kind when I said that aid.

That subject back then is just incredible. My longish post,as posts go,I said was exceedingly superficial and I emphasised it.In fact all subjects these days have depths of complexity which drives some people to inordinate lengths in the search for simplicity. That is the main motive for a great deal of fundamentalism. It wouldn't surprise me to discover that 500 university "educated" people were working on how to market one brand of soap powder.Does that give you an idea. Those ads don't come from nowhere.Study the credits at the end of even an ordinary movie.

Ever noticed those?

Of course. Are you referring, then to how many people it takes to make a movie, Spendi?

Don't I feel that most people are searching for simplicity in a complex world or superficial so that they 1) can mask insecurities, 2) don't want to reveal too much of themself to an 'unknown' online entity, or 3) aren't that much invested in whatever subject? How do you feel about that?

Not necessarily devriesj. I think that the ones who strive
for simplicity in their lives, are usualy the ones, who are
secure with themselves and don't want to be judged by
their cover. Insecure people mostly over estimate themselves and try to compensate for shortcomings.

Not revealing too much of ourselves is probably a
healthy trade to have in such a public place as this here.

Don't you think?

There's something in all three devvie. But the first seems to me to be the main one.Science has got so specialised and advanced that nobody can grasp the complexity of life.Even scientists in one area are lost in others and may not even understand the languages used in them.
I daresay that the guys who work on the space suits know very little about all the other aspects of a mission. They wouldn't have the time for one thing. When a shuttle goes up you are looking at a fantastic operation in which you should take pride.I do even though I'm not American.
Two hundred years ago, which is nothing really, the top guys knew all about everything.Nowadays they hardly know 0.00something percent. The President has one hell of a job and his critics are up the pole.
It doesn't render me insecure but I know it does those who think they know what's going on.
One can enjoy the fruits of it though if one is lucky enough.

Count your blessings eh?

No.

But funny you should say that.I caught an item on CBS News last night about a serious decline in movie theatre attendance.

Is it true?

Not here in the US. People love to go to the movies and
on weekends the lines are very long. Actually, I'm going
now to see a film with little Jane. See you later.

Don't you like the movies?

Cal-going back to earlier.I just saw an item about the dangers to children on foreign holidays. They specifically stressed the dangers of the unfamiliar surroundings these kids were in thanks to the idiocy of their parents. In fact they harped on it.
There have been studies done of the damage done to children by removing them from where they are used to and I have listened to a few people talk about the profound sadness they felt when they were moved to a new area and lost all their friends
who they had grown up with. And the friends would be saddened as well.

Children don't need sadness.Of any sort.

Does anybody?

No, yet we continue to inflict it on each other - some very purposefully and others not so purposefully, but it still hurts none-the-less. I again would stress that each should be able to comfortably reveal what is comfortable for them to reveal without being watched or sanctioned or judged by others. Why do people feel so ready and able to tell others what they should or shouldn't do? Why do some find it necessary to tell others, or worse yet try to manipulate through insinuation, what they believe they should or shouldn't do or be.

Do you think some people don't have enough to interest them in their own lives and that's why they concern themselves so much with how others live theirs?

Don't I know that to be so true?! It's so sad that some people feel so inadequate in and of themselves that they need to involve themselves in other people's lives to feel some sense of worth or something.

I know people like this, do you?

There's a signature on the forum somewhere which is a quote from Goethe which agrees with that.

Have you seen it?

Just came from the movies, and sorry to back track again.
spendius, my child is going to foreign holidays every year
and she loves it. In fact, she has a hard time leaving,
because she likes it so much. I don't really care what studies say and suggest, my foremost concern is my family
and how they react to certain conditions. Anybody would,
I guess.

Yes devriesj, I know people who vicariously live through
others, and those poor souls don't even realize it.

Well, there is worth out there, isn't it?

Everyone has worth, wouldn't you agree?

What movie, Jane - just curious. Any good? And where has your daughter traveled? My daughter has a chance to go to Australia next year. She can't wait, either>

Yes, I agree everyone has worth and potential, regardless.
We saw "Charly and the Chocolate Factory" but I did
like the original version better.
My daughter is still too young to travel by herself (she's 9 years old) but we go to Europe on a regular basis and she's
loved it every time.

Have you been to Australia?

No, I haven't. I'd love to go. Some of the loveliest people I've ever met have been from Australia so there's that aspect that interests me, as well as the natural beauty of the place.

Is there someplace you haven't traveled to that you'd like to be able to go?

Yes - very much. That would be the UK, France, Germany, Luxemberg - Europe, really in a nutshell. I have had enough of merely reading about the places and seeing the beautiful photos, but what are they compared to the actual primary view - let's be realistic! Otherwise, I would also love to go to the USA to visit their colonial areas of the cities as well. It must be my obsession with colonial histories.

How are you enjoying Lighthouse Family at the momento?

Not listening to music right now - can you believe it?! But I will be going into town today and do plan to pick up their CD.

Would you recommend the one with the Soul Satelite song as the one to get first?
