Does "realizing this" refer to:
(1) realizing this goal
(2) realizing this illusion
Which is correct?
(1) or (2)?
My answer is (1), but I am not absolutely sure in the grammatical or rhetorical analysis.
Context:
My goal in this chapter and the next is to convince you that the conventional sense of self is an illusion - and that spirituality largely consists in realizing this, moment to moment.

@contrex,
Thanks.
As a sidenote, if that self is an illusion, by the same token, an animal, e.g. a dog, might have the illusion - the concept of self, but the frustration for the dog is that he does have the power of language.
Does not have the power of language?

The skill of language, like written English. Of course dogs bark, which more or less convey something meaningful to themselves, but too simple for we humans. They are losers.

You misunderstood me. I was supplying the 'not' which you omitted.

Good Lord. What an embarrassment.
Thank you Contrex.
