@edgarblythe,
Yeah, there's better, I guess. Like the great "Green Berets," for example.

@layman,
Don't get me wrong about how I feel about military guys. Me and two brothers were some. I was Navy, they were Army. I never blamed the draftees for the war. I blamed Johnson, Kissinger, MacNamara and Nixon the most.

Not for either of them.

Not sure why people cannot simply acknowledge that, but that is something they have to deal with.

NO. REALITY is whatever it is.

If it involves what humans think about it...then it does, but if it doesn't...then it doesn't.

The fact that some people guess a god exists...and some guess no gods exist...does not mean that is what the REALITY is.

Another day when there is no god. I don't know how many that makes since the big bang, but there are uncountable ones ahead.

There have been NO days...zero, nada, nil, zilch...since the big band when anyone knows for sure there have been no gods.

We do know there is no confirmed evidence of a god...and no confirmed evidence there are no gods...

...so obviously, we still do not know if gods exist in the REALITY or not...

...and we still cannot make a meaningful guess about that question with the ambiguous evidence we have at our disposal.

My guess is that things will not change in that regard tomorrow.

My further guess is there will be theists making blind guesses that at least one god does exist...and atheists making blind guesses in the other direction.

And so it goes!

Dear hamsters

Can you code something so that quotes from people you have on ignore are automatically suppressed? No divine intervention required.

Yours in awe,

HH

@hingehead,
Actually, they are surpressed, in that you just get a small print notice that user ignored, followed by a big white space.

Problems happen when engagement happens, and then you get to hear all about it, again and again.

I'm mixed, in that I don't really want discourse shut off here, but I've a built in from childhood lack of interest in incessant arguing. Not that my parents argued, better they should have; I lived in a quiet house sometimes in clouds of sullen silence (remember, anger is a sin). They were just so different. I suppose I have aspects of both over time, miss them, long time gone now. Would that we could talk some more.

I have a bunch on a2k I figure as irremedially racist, etc., off base, that I would never respond to (and they me, likely) but others here do. I'm glad they do, they need to be answered.

The trick is answer the once, but not feed. That takes a community capable of restraint. I don't get a restraint ribbon myself.

Yeah...an atheist has to think I am a fuckhead...and has to think that reasonable, respectful remarks like mine are trolling.

Grow up, Edgar.

There have been no days where anyone can logically say, there are no gods in REALITY. All that can be said is, "There is no unambiguous evidence of gods."

Of course, it can also logically be said, "There is no unambiguous evidence gods do not exist."

You love to joust with theists...so you can mock their guesses.

You cannot even tolerate agnostics, because you see their position as more logical and scientific than anything most atheists produce.

@edgarblythe,
Okay...guesses.

So...instead of just trying to put me down in that nasty tone you are taking...why not actually deal with what I have written.

Let's start with my first post:

Quote:
As a fun thread…this is fine, Edgar…clever and humorous.

But there is a serious aspect to it…and I suspect there is a serious subtext intended. I’d like to discuss it a bit in a friendly way…without anger or insults, if possible.

If your title here were, “Another day…no gods detected” it would be completely logical…as would all the follow up posts. But with the title it has…something is awry.

Not too many decades ago, one could have created a similar thread entitled, “Another day…and there are no germs… none, zilch, nada, null, zero.” That also would become completely logical with a similar minor alternation "Another day…no germs detected.”

The fact that we were not able to detect germs...did not mean there were no germs...just that we were not able to detect them. There was (is) no reason for germs...no need...and Occam's razor would suggest we not even consider it.

But germs exist.

Your thread got me to thinking: Another day…we still do not know the true nature of the REALITY of existence…and we do not know if there are gods involved or not.

What do you think?

Something with more substance, if you will, than that non-response you used as a reply earlier.

Let's try it, Edgar. Let's be respectful to each other...and actually discuss this thing carefully.

Do you not see the point I was making as valid?

Yeah...we've already agreed on that.

Now...about the respectful, courteous discussion: Any chance?
