Thanks for the welcome Lightwiz & Cyclop! The true patriots are divided, shamed by disparaging terms like 'loony liberal', 'left wing nutcase' and the ever popular 'unpatriotic' (truly a case of projection!) My current hero is Gore Vidal whose grasp of American history ought to make Shrub blush.
Vidal's grasp of world history would put many to shame. Of course, he's researched it to the minutia of detail -- "Julian" is still my favorite with "Burr" and close second. Gore's collection of essays "United States" is a tome any author would envy.
