Comment: "Corruption" actually has a third and most important meaning that is not listed here.
How could a dictionary be wrong about such an important word and leave out the most vital part?
This definition only eludes to the true meaning of the word where its meaning is so obscured that one might miss it entirely by relying on this alone to define it.
The idea of corruption is thousands of years old. Ancient Greek philosophers described corruption and defined its parameters and the source thereof.
Corruption needs to be defined in two ways to be fully understood.
This word comes the closest to defining corruption where this definition says that it is a "process".
Corruption is the process where, "things get worse and worse".
The question is, why do things sometimes get worse and worse?
The answer is, corrupt people make it that way.
Then the second half of the question is, how do people become corrupt?
People become corrupt inside. They choose a lie over the truth and their inner being becomes obscured from the light of love. Their mind becomes obscured from reason and their heart becomes wicked in its dealings.
The final question we need to ask ourselves is, how much corruption is too much where things become unmanageable and corruption takes even those who are corrupt down?
Corruption is a "nature". It is the propensity to live by greed rather than the benefit of the whole.
It is an escalating condition that has one final outcome, total and complete destruction of all that is called good.
Do not count on escaping the corruption that you have allowed to exist, because it leaves no survivors in its wake, it kills even its own.
John 10:10 (KJV)
10 The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.
