Poll: More Than Half Of Jersey Voters Say Christie's 'Arrogant,' Not 'Presidential'

Source: TPM

-snip-

The Rutgers-Eagleton poll found that 54 percent of Garden State voters said Christie wasn't at all "presidential" while 29 percent said the word describes him somewhat well. Just 14 percent said they thought the word "presidential" described Christie very well.

The poll noted that those figures were little changed since April. Christie launched his presidential campaign at the end of June.

So how would New Jersey voters describe their two-term governor?

Fifty-eight percent said the word "arrogant" describes the governor very well, while 49 percent said "bully" is a very apt description for Christie. The poll surveyed 757 registered voters in New Jersey by phone from July 25-Aug. 1. It had a margin of error of plus or minus 3.6 percentage points.

Majority Of NJ Voters Say Chris Christie Should Resign
Source: TPM

A majority of New Jersey’s registered voters said Gov. Chris Christie (R) should resign from his post as he ramps up his presidential campaign, according to a poll released Thursday.

Fifty-four percent of voters want Christie to step down while 41 percent said he should continue to run New Jersey as he seeks the Republican presidential nomination, according to the poll from Rutgers-Eagleton. But when voters were told about efforts by the Democratic legislature to oust the governor, 45 percent said Christie should be "forced" to resign whereas 52 percent said he should remain in his post.

This comes after Wednesday’s poll from Rutgers-Eagleton that said more than half of New jersey residents would describe Christie as “arrogant” and would not describe him as “presidential.”

The poll was conducted among 867 New Jersey residents, 757 of whom were registered voters, by live interviews on landlines and cell phones from July 25 to August 1. (This was before the first Republican presidential debate.) The margin of error was plus or minus 4 percent. The questions were asked in English and Spanish.

@TheCobbler,
I have friends that on a daily basis try and tell me that racism is right.
I hang up on them often...

THIS is why over time I say **** you all!

Shall I say it delicately?

If the world would open their loving arms Syrian refugees would not be left to die! We can accommodate then as a global community.

I am not only not racist I hate racism.

I am not anti immigration to a point but I am NOT anti immigrant!

America is supposed to be a melting pot,

How can we be a melting pot when we have MOSTLY Latin to the south of us and mostly British and French above us?

Well we can try and import other races to justify this melting pot or we can allow our northern and southern neighbors to simply overtake our melting pot?

If we import a bunch of foreigners then we ignore our southern concentration of Mexicans and northern concentration of British and French?

I personally prefer the melting pot idea but what are we going to do once we have our culture of purely mixed races?

Mexico could allow other races in and so could Canada!

It is time for all countries to become "melting pots"...

Not defined by religion but defined by multiple racial peoples!

Together we stand divided we fall...

Robert E Lee was a treacherous and immoral man. There is no way in hell that name will not FOREVER be associated with the serial killers and rapists of history's most despised people.

Robert E Lee = Hitler

@Baldimo,
Are you blaming it on too much regulation?

Deregulation is an attempt to have less regulation. I would guess there is less regulation in China. Part of the issue in China is the firefighters may not have known there were chemicals that would react with water in the area.

@parados,
Sorry but I have't read any reports that say this was due to any deregulation. It has been mentioned in the news that the building was too close to residential area's by half the distance it was suppose to be at. Also what you mentioned as the fire dept didn't know what chemicals were stored at the warehouse. It still doesn't point to deregulation as Rex claims.
