It is my total belief that America is headed for a civil war, hopefully without bullets being involved. I also hope it happens before election day.

It isn't a war like anyone is thinking, it is a war within the Republican party. Their apparatus doesn't represent their followers are their politicians anymore, except one. It doesn't even hand out or even create competitive advice or distribute money to its fellow candidates anymore, except one.

This situation can not hold a national party together, in my opinion. I can only see it slowly then faster an faster failing - just my opinion! Many older, "retired" from office Republican Presidents, Senators and House members are now sounding the alarms.

How does it end, time will tell.

@BillW,
Frankly, from the outside, I can't imagine America organising a barbecue without bullets being involved.

Trump Rejects Several Female Jurors as Not His Type
APR 15

NEW YORK (The Borowitz Report)—Judge Juan M. Merchan reprimanded Donald J. Trump on the first day of his hush money trial after he rejected a number of prospective female jurors as “not my type.”

The judge declared Trump out of order when he commented that one of the women was “a 5 or a 6 at best.”

“This is what happens when Joe Biden controls the justice system,” Trump said. “He doesn’t know how to pick women. I ran beauty pageants.”
Looking at the panel of jurors, he added, “This should never be allowed to happen in this country.”

Trump’s legal woes worsened further when his entire team of attorneys suddenly pleaded insanity.

The lawyers said they were claiming to be insane “on the grounds of expecting to ever be paid.”

In a nightmare scenario for Trump, Rudy Giuliani has volunteered to defend him.

TC, it should also be noted that “a fish rots from the head down” which means that, in addition to being a major contributing factor in an organization's success, leadership is also the root cause of an organization's failure and demise.

For the Republicans, these weaknesses have been ongoing for a long time now. Weak leadership is the vast and primary problem with their party.

@BillW,
I think part of the RNC's demise is due to a sense of entitlement created by their cooperation with the Dems to make the US a two party system that excludes most new entrants. That meant not having to compete for ideas to improve peoples lives, just come up with the money (from private interests with their own agendas) to make the other side look worse than they are. Dems are just as guilty but picked the right side in demographic terms (thus the RNCs obsession with voter ID laws).

Of course your first past the post system was a huge catalyst for political duopoly.

@hingehead,
The major difference in the two parties is that:

dems are "We the People.......", whereas:

Republicans are " We the Wealthy.......".

@BillW,
While I agree that the Dems sit closer to representing most of the people I believe imagining that they are untainted by wealth and power is optimistic, at best.
