I take "that party" for what it is, an Authoritarian Dictatorship. The election in November 2022 and 2024 are very scary. It could set them up for declaring in about June of 2025 for suspending the government as is and coming back into session as a dictatorship - if they can capture the House, Senate and Presidency by then. By June they ought to be able to establish control of the military.

In the last two weeks I have heard not less than 20-25 various people acknowledge the dilemma our country is currently facing. The 1st thing a new Authoritarian Dictatorship must prove is its power. I would guess some form of power/land seeking war would be in order. I could even see a number of Americans hanged or other types of severe penalties after fast, kangaroo trials.

Yup.

The state and local level governments are a particular problem, because that ultimately leads to more and more domination of the minority.

The courts still do not bother me as much. For whatever reason, most of the judicial branch seems to operate outside of the restraints of politics...except, of course, the SCOTUS. A very big exception, I grant.

And it's our own fault. Democrats tend not to vote in off years and do not contest every election. This is the mother of gerrymandering and the appointment and election of less than adequate judicial candidates.

People buy into the myth of "my vote means nothing". If your vote means nothing, the GOP would be encouraging voting, not trying to steal it.
