@Region Philbis,

As Democrats push for probe of GOP ties to riots, Rep. Lauren Boebert denies involvement, says she’s getting ‘death threats’

By Katie Shepherd
Jan. 15, 2021 at 4:47 a.m. CST
Democrats this week demanded a full investigation into whether Republican House members assisted rioters in the attempted insurrection at the U.S. Capitol, fueled in part by claims that at least one GOP lawmaker gave “reconnaissance” tours to groups the day before the attack.

On Thursday, one Republican lawmaker came out swinging to deny any involvement in that incident, although no Democrats have publicly named her. Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-Colo.), a gun rights advocate with links to the baseless QAnon conspiracy theory, said the allegations have been falsely linked to her, leading to “death threats and hundreds of vile phone calls and emails.”

“You said that you could ‘confirm’ a Member of Congress gave Capitol tours to ‘insurrectionists’ and implied I was that Member of Congress,” Boebert wrote in a letter to Rep. Sean Patrick Maloney (D-N.Y.), referencing an interview he gave MSNBC earlier this week. “Your comments are extremely offensive, shameful and dangerous.”

Maloney, though, quickly noted that he did not name the member of Congress who allegedly led rioters on a tour last week.

“Um, I’ve never said your name in public, @RepBoebert. Never. Not once,” Maloney said in a tweet late Thursday night. “(If you’re going to be a gun nut, you probably shouldn’t go off half cocked.) I’ll tweet the transcript so you can see … but that might be like ‘a fact’, so might not help you.”

The NRA Goes Down with Trump

WASHINGTON -- As the National Rifle Association (NRA) announces it has filed for bankruptcy and is moving operations to Texas in a pathetic effort to escape legal culpability, it finally can’t shy away from its decades of corruption and deception.

The Coalition to Stop Gun Violence (CSGV) has been warning about the dangers the NRA poses to American safety, security and democracy for decades.

CSGV Executive Director Josh Horwitz issued the following statement:

“Few organizations in America have been as destructive or harmful to the American way of life than the National Rifle Association. What was once an organization committed to firearm safety and hunting has degenerated into a criminal syndicate based on an unapologetic embrace of greed, corruption and insurrection. This monumental shift has resulted in the deaths of countless American lives and spawned a fringe anti-government movement that now has declared war on the United States of America.

“The NRA’s declaration of bankruptcy and move to Texas should come as welcome news to all Americans. The group has made its mission over the past few decades to sell fear, sell guns, and sell the insurrectionist idea that violence is a legitimate part of our political process. Their cruelty and corruption knew no bounds as they danced on the graves of dead Americans to enrich themselves and consolidate power in extremist right-wing politics.

“No group tied themselves as early and as passionately to Donald Trump as the National Rifle Association. And now the two of them are exiting the national stage together, leaving a massive stain from their destruction. It is up to us -- the American people -- to clean up their deadly mess and continue to strive for a more perfect -- and safer -- union.”

Comment:
Republican deregulation efforts with guns bankrupt the NRA...

Republicans have weakened the 2nd amendment with their liberal profiteering stance on gun procurement and ownership.

The NRA is merely relocating to Texas.

Mr. Trump is likely to win a second term in 2024.

Progressives sure do hate freedom and civil liberties.

@oralloy,
Texas does not want your profiteering, gun crazy party either...

Trump nearly lost Texas and had more effort been spent by Democrats in Texas Trump would have surely lost the state too.

It is more than just a relocation, they have filed for bankruptcy, you have weakened the NRA and weakened the 2nd amendment.

Your scumbag party has exhausted all public trust but that of a handful of radical seditionists.

NRA files for bankruptcy
https://www.cnn.com/2021/01/15/business/nra-bankruptcy-new-york-texas/index.html

Excerpt:
In addition to its internal challenges, the NRA faces a shift in Americans' attitudes about guns following a string of deadly mass shootings in recent years.
"The NRA, a get rich quick scheme for its executives that pushed positions wildly out of step with gun owners, is collapsing, just as Congress readies to vote on a comprehensive background checks proposal with 90% public support," Chris Murphy, the Democratic senator from Connecticut, said on Twitter Friday. "It's happening."

Comment:
It's happening, yes, Democrats are making gun regulation more sensible and therefore safeguarding second amendment rights for, "law abiding citizens".

Since the governor had nothing to do with the decision to not treat the water with orthophosphates, this is just Democrats abusing their power (again) to harm people who they don't agree with.

Comment:
Rick Snyder's emergency managers were certainly an abuse of power, wrenching elected officials out so his "appointees" could harm voters they don't agree with. Republicans cannot win in elections so the only way they can continue to harm people is with their guns, mobs and "emergency managers".

The courts will determine Rick's involvement, not you.

Abusing power... take a look in the mirror.

Proof that Snyder’s Emergency Management is to Blame in Flint
https://www.inthepublicinterest.org/proof-that-snyders-emergency-management-is-to-blame-in-flint/

Excerpt:
Well, it turns out that the Flint City Council—democratically elected by residents—voted overwhelming to return the city’s pipes to the old water source just eleven days after Veolia’s report. Councilman Eric Mays mentions the report in his testimony before the vote. The council voted to “do all things necessary” to reconnect Flint’s pipes and fix the problem.

But the City Council, acting on behalf of the residents they represent, was overruled by Gerald Ambrose, Snyder’s “emergency manager” at the time. Ambrose, who had seen the report, called switching back to Detroit’s water “incomprehensible” because it would cost money.

I can see how the ones who murdered the police officer will face felony charges, but how many of the peaceful protesters will end up with felony records?
