Have just stripped off to my Tshirt, digging over the border in my front garden.

Noticed that the tete a tete miniature daffs are not far off opening in the warm spring sun.

Birds are singing their territories, and the cat is fast asleep next to the garden wall. There is the sound of a distant lawnmower.

Thinking of you all in the outer colonies.

Now, did I leave a cold beer in the fridge?

@Lordyaswas,
Oh, and I have the slight whiff of horse manure about my person, as I'm preparing the ground for a Zephirine Drouhin to replace my white Wisteria, which was killed off by my plumber last year (long story).

@Lordyaswas,
Is the ground warm/soft enough there?

@Ragman,
Surprisingly, yes!

We've had hard frosts up until recently, but this is a south facing bay of the house (warm brick) and quite sheltered. Plus I have dug in several tons of various compost and poo over the past ten years or so.

The rose will be a bare root one anyway, and they can be just stuck in place and off they go.

@Lordyaswas,
/sends Lordy some horse manure/

It's frozen, just like everything else here. Should be thawed by the time the neighborhood kids drop the plain brown bag on your front porch, set it on fire, and run away.

PS Saw a lonely sparrow in our tree (in the front). Poor thing.

@Lordyaswas,
oh yes....I understand. Rose plants have that peculiar dynamic...

Pleading ignorance of what a Zephirine Drouhin is.

@Linkat,
Ok so now I look at it is horrible - husband is using the snow blowers and girls are shoveling the walkway - the oil guy couldn't deliver the other day because of the snow (where they fill is opposite side of our driveway) do not even know when we will be able to plow that area. I think we still have half a tank.

Then I look at the news and see now that the south shore is getting the worst --- yet again - I don't like winning any more.

Looking on the bright side, I see my mayor is over there, cheering you all up at the moment. Lucky you!

Warning: Don't let him anywhere near a good looking woman or a zip wire.
