@Butrflynet,
Butrflynet, I think Deb and friend are going to New Orleans instead of ABQ. I would make the same choice, considering time and getting the most out of the trip. New Orleans is absolutely unique and lots of fun. ABQ has its charms, but nothing like New Orleans. This doesn't mean I didn't sob when I heard the news. There might have been a little whining involved, as well.

@dlowan,
OK.

I am in Seattle from night 12 May, to morning 16 May!

Jeanne has just drawn my attention to the Chihuly Glass Museum. I love glass.

@margo,
Chihuly! Set and I went to a Chihuly exhibit in Columbus Ohio years ago. It was literally brilliant.

@margo,
You are avoiding us! We are reasonably central. Want to catch up for dinner that night? Wonder if Jeanne could make it?

Chihuly! Yay!

I have used 'happy house sitters' and Aussie house sitters. (google)

Better result with the happy ones

@ossobuco,
Oh, and I'm the one person on earth who doesn't love Chihuly.

If you have little time, there is much else to see. If you love his work, it will be a feast.

They stay in your house and look after your pets and stuff.

@dlowan,
Ah. I had a friend who used to do that, to get along money wise. But she knew the people she did that with/for. I suppose that could bring complications too.
Anyway, never mind, I'm wishing you great luck.

Just remembered, it was Peace and Love who took me to see Chihuly. I liked her, natch.

@ossobuco,
It's a Thing. Seems lots of retired people are doing it to see Australia or the world cheaply. Or young people spending a few years overseas. I'm having trouble because it's a short time, relatively speaking.

I was dating a fella for a little while who was doing it, but his sister had a heart attack and he's gone home to look after her.

My neighbours would feed the cats, but they need way more than that....they need lots of games and cuddles. I'd come home to a destroyed house and very unhappy woollies.

@dlowan,
I get it.

Long ago and far away, J and I went on a short trip, a five day weekend, to mid california. We took Kelly, our found irish setter, then still young, to a fabuloso kennel in Malibu, at no little expense re us. Yes, Malibu. It was on the way north. When we picked him up he had lost considerable weight. Thus our neighbor got involved when we were on other short trips. He was a butcher, down to earth guy. He and his wife were owners of Foxy the duck and a dog whose name I don't remember and also a fine cat. I remember Foxy more, since she traversed inside our small house and bludgeoned the blinds en route. She was guard duck for both families. I think I'll put her avatar up soon.
