In France Only doctors may recommend medications to their patients.
The reason that France has this law becomes very clear when you read the following taken from the BBC NEWS of 11 April 2006:
”Pharmaceutical firms are inventing diseases to sell more drugs, researchers have warned. ‘Disease-mongering’ promotes non-existent diseases and exaggerates mild problems to boost profits, the Public Library of Science Medicine reported.”

@Rickoshay75,
You and Quahog taking courses at the same cave?
@Rickoshay75,
Even here Rick a recent study indicates that fully half of all prescriptions don't work
@farmerman,
I share your concern, fm. On the other hand, you must admit that the US pharmaceutical industry is one of the truly impressive criminal organizations in the world.
@farmerman,
well okay. that's stretching it. But I wouldn't put it past them to grossly exaggerate the seriousness of some newly discovered virus or bacillus and pushing remedies for something comparatively harmless.
@Lustig Andrei,
many of those "TV diseases" were first presented in "Infotainment" specials. STuff like Crohn's disease and Fibromyalgia were cooked up by TV doctors. )
@farmerman,
Pfizer made the first Fibromyalgia drug(lyrica) with USDA approvals. Ialways had my doubts about that disease but Pfizer is a US compny nd Bayer is German/Swiss (I believe).
