@tsarstepan,
whats the total box office for jurassic world?

Im trying to figure out what in the hell was the big draw?
Is it a pent up Jurassic Park Fever?. It really was not a good movie. I mean, yeh it was aimed at 13 year olds but Disney usually figures out that a parent will accompny the miniature kids.
I mean, a PIXAR movie like UP was good on so may levels that I enjoyd the hell out of it.
Jurassic World, didnt come close.

Ill never understand the business of movie making nd marketing. Lotsa gambling and minimal "sure things"
What was the last really big summer blockbuster? Independence Day?< JAWS?... I have no idea.

@farmerman,
One thing, "Star Power" is a fleeting phenom. Guys like Schwartzenegger, Willis, and Stalone are waaay past their "Sell by" dates. They are known for just a few roles and those roles are familir to people who mostly DONT go to movie theaters.

@farmerman,
Dinosaurs are constantly popular. There was stuff with Doug McClure and dinosaurs before Jurassic Park.

@farmerman,
As of this weekend? $558 million after 4 weeks.

The first Avengers (2012) was the last monster summer blockbuster [though it came out in May is technically considered the beginning of summer movie blockbuster season]. Then we have The Dark Knight (2008).

This keeps popping up on the local news and has attracted various sponsors. Nothing solid yet, but it's a distinct possibility.

@tsarstepan,
Ha, all of my questions were answered . They only left out the part about the 3D where everybody was getting sick whenever that Mosasaur would come after your face.

Pwrhaps they will let dinosaurs be extinct for good

I was surprised by how little the plot of this last Jurassic Park was changed from the original. Sure the characters (and dinosaurs had changed a little), but the core story was exactly the same. And yet it still made millions. Hollywood must love this, just change the actors and your CGI creations a bit and do it all over again and churn out millions. I'm sure we'll be seeing this franchise repeated for many decades to come.

Regardless on whether you liked the new film or not, you got that correct. This gold mine (the third highest grossing movie of all time) is going to be strip mined to mere dust by the studio.

What bothers people on this thread is the same way I feel about Avatar and it's inevitable 3 sequels. Kill em with fire!

@tsarstepan,
The first major trailer for Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom has graced our eyes and ears. Looks darn good to me.

@tsarstepan,
It looks like the same set of scenes and themes they've done before, complete with the cute little baby dino, the dino whisperer scene, the big T-Rex saves the day and roars, and even Jeff Goldblum's famous lines and warnings all over again.

In my opinion, until they put feathers on the Velociraptor and the T-Rex it's just a bunch of giant plucked chickens running around because they haven't even got the start of their show done right yet. It's a Dinosaur CGI extravaganza, so you would think they would at least get their subjects done right.

That being said, I'm sure it will make millions and a lot of teenagers will love it.

@rosborne979,
even calling it "Jurassic World" is a misnomer redolent of Dick Tracy and his wrist watch phone
