@tsarstepan,
Jurassic World crushed the box office in its massive toothy jaws!
$511.something million in its first weekend (worldwide)! Loving it!

@tsarstepan,
Fortunately the movie kept moving along after a dim start.
It was just ok, not great.
I think it amusing that the topic of the movies"plot" , surrounded the same issue that the entire "Jurassic ..." family of movies has undergone.

However, Im afraid that, with the humongous take it got in the first weekend, there will probably be another sequel, maybe a prequel, or something with a huuuuge box office pre stoked audience. Im talking about a Trec fro Jurassic park, up against Chinese homemade Monster from the Cenozoic, a huuuge mammal or a megalodon (Gonna be hard to create a megalodon from skeeter blood locked up in non-marine sediments.
The whole thing would be focused for the Asian market and, like Godzilla (the very first one), there would be an AMerican version

A Pixar movie of a chicken dinosaur could well be next.

@farmerman,
Beleive it or not, this movie offering took itself waaay too seriously. One of the critics who panned it sid that it could have been a lot better if the producers (Spielberg was involved as n exec producer), hired a bunch of really good comedy writers.

@tsarstepan,
all that means is that people are bored out of thir skulls and want to get the kids to shut up.
You gotta admit, this was a total kids movie.

@farmerman,
It's not really a difficult admission. It's a movie about two kids lost amongst the chaos of rampaging dinosaurs. Of course it's a kids movie. Keep in mind the film's rating is a PG-13. Not a movie for little tykes.

But also, the movie is a thousand fold better then James Cameron's Avatar and Titanic (the top two biggest box office holders). Jurassic World has a chance of destroying those two stinkers of their respective titles.

review by one of my favourite local artists

Quote:
It's crap.
Once I started laughing, I couldn't stop. Absolutely ridiculous.
Yeah, if you're like me, you *have* to go see it, but it's like they didn't even try any harder than the usual little Spielberg tear jerker cliches. Some bits were *so* predictable it was asinine. Chris Pratt's nipple makes it all worthwhile tho, although I like him better with the extra pounds ala "Parks & Rec" days. He's still adorbs. But the annoyingly pervasive product placement just screams 'marketing vehicle' rather than putting in the effort on entertainment value during the movie.
>gag!<
Good Sunday afternoon on cable teevee movie tho.

@ehBeth,
ha!. Precisely. There was so much "profundity" in the air that it made you puke. Remember how bad the second of the "Indiana Jones" mvies was about (the one about the thugees and the palace at Pankot?? Thats how bad this JP was

as Coyne said'They really needed a couple of comedy writers to fix it up"

How bout "JP-the musical"

@ehBeth,
we went to see "Woman in Gold" last night. It was a faaaaar better movie for adults. Its about the legal fight for th return of a Gustav Klimt painting bsorbed by the Nazis during the Anschluss.

@tsarstepan,
what's sad is that box office take weighs heavily in determining whether there will be another mindlesssequel of this stuff.

A musical?
a Prequel ?
a prequel where the firt sample dinosaurs hold an entire neighborhood as hostages and as al fresco lunch.

a sequel where the dios go totally on breeding frenzy and its all out war and they win and overpopulate the earth until some space station rangers come back to earth and gain the upper hnd at eradication in the Western world. The last chaapter of the movie is some of our remaining people whod hidden out, are listening across the radio band and hear voices of people asking for help in Asia
