In below sentences why do the words "combine" and "increase" come with "ed" and "ing" respectively?

There are more fishers in Asia in the rest of the world combined.
There were 0.5 million fishers in 1970 increasing to about 1.2 million in 1980.

There are more fishers in Asia than in the rest of the combined world.

There were 0.5 million fishers in 1970, increasing to about 1.2 million in 1980.

"combined" is an adjective that describes the rest of the world.

"increasing to about 1.2 million n 1980. " is a clause.
